Some interesting statistics
  • Google and Google-owned YouTube (together) receive more monthly visits (127 billion) than the other 48 top-ranked sites combined
  • Microsoft (ranked 28th) owns 7 of top 50 sites (Microsoft, Live, Office, LinkedIn, Bing, Microsoft Online, MSN)
  • United States companies own more than 50% of top 50 sites
  • Chinese companies account for 10% of top 50 (Baidu, QQ, Bilibili, TikTok and AliExpress)
  • 2 adult/pornographic sites (9th-placed XVideos from Czech Republic and 10th-placed PornHub from Canada) are in top 10, while XNXX, another Czech Republic-owned adult site, ranks 14th, and XHamster from Cyprus is 27th, meaning European companies lead the adult website industry
  • Video conferencing sites Zoom (15th) and TikTok (43rd) both entered the top 50
  • Google receives around 80% of its income from ad revenues

From the outside it looks like a lot of money out of nothing, but really it just looks impressive, I like it, it's a great reference point for the future...
 
Expected results, I would say, the only thing that maybe surprise me is the fact that Wikipedia is before Instagram, didn't think about it, to be honest, and also that Facebook still has more visitors than Instagram, thought it's a pretty dead network, except some groups and paid ads that still somewhat work.

Comeone!! I don't know how you think this way about FB and Insta .. Dacebook has over 2.8B active users..
It depends on the geo .. in my country for exp it's VERY common to find people having FB acc and not Insta acc, Facebook is the most used social media platform here, I can even say > more than Youtube .. Insta isn't that popular .. And the countries that has alot of population use FB as a main SM platform (such as India) ..

Yes, I agree with you on that, it highly depends on the geo, but in general, in Tier 1 countries at least, Instagram is getting more and more popular, younger people don't even use their Facebook accounts anymore, but I didn't look it from a more general perspective as somewhere it's still very active.
