What is a placement in push notification traffic sources?

Ok, so this one is bugging me for some time now and i was unable to find the detailed answer, i come from the pops and native ads traffic and its perfectly understandable that in that traffic type, placement (or site id, or source) is a website where the ad is shown.

But what about push? its not a device where the push is shown, as i get multiple conversions with a different IP/user agent/platform from the same placement.

is it a group of devices that accepted notifications form a certain website?

Hmm, not sure how do you mean? cant be the website placement as the ad is not shown on website but on the user device... unless im missing something

You are right - but the user was collected from a specific site (theoretically) so the placement_id should be where the user was collected. And sorry to say this is theory because I guess not everyone will be displaying the "placement_id" base on that.

yeah, thank you, its the same in native, Traffic source just hide the referrer for placement and can drive all kinds of traffic thru the specific placement.
