VPS or CDN

Hi,

Have anyone done any testing related VPS or CDN? The question is not about price, but I would like to understand the 2 options:

1 - Performance
2 - Price
3 - Maintenance

I haven't done any, but so far these are the main points that I could find out:

CDN - Pros
- Price, Maintenance

CDN - Cons
- Only static (not sure, if it can run java script because it is browse script side)
- No much control

VPS - Pros
- Total control
- Can run any script

VPS - Cons
- Price (ok you can find for $10 a month, not that expensive)
- High Maintenance (at least compared to CDN, you have the O.S + all software)

Performance:
I have no idea about it?

Why not both?
Have a VPS for non-static content, and keep the static content on a CDN.
