Case study from Russia: Qlean and VKontakte

Hello!

I joined Affiliatefix only recently, but I would already like to thank people here for the information and advice that helped me start earning even more. This is why I would like to present you one of my cases.

This spring, Qlean, a new exciting advertiser, joined CityAds (ref) affiliate network, which brings me most of my monthly income. Qlean is the largest Russian apartment cleaning service, the startup of the year according to RBС. And I was attracted by their recruitment offer (Qlean – 2 (ID: 27554)), not the cleaning one (Qlean (ID: 27282)), because I have already had a tried and true recruiting case for Tinkoff Bank: HR (ID: 20015) under my belt.

I have been working with CityAds almost since their launch (in 2010). I've got an advanced account, I have good relations with the managers, and haven’t had a problem with the service ever. So, as Qlean-2 was available even for basic level users, I began working on it immediately.

The advertiser was going for traffic from Moscow and Moscow Region. The pay is 3 259.45 RUB per specialist starting working (about $50). Verification is up to 60 days.

Following my standard procedure, I opened vk.com (Russian Facebook). In the community search field, I entered "Work in Moscow" (Работа в Москве), and filtered it to public pages. I didn't want to use community pages, as there is constant and uncontrollable spam there.

I composed a message about hiring staff, added the partner link, and used the Propose News form to publish it in the communities.

Some of them approved the post right away, while some took about a week. In total, I've sent the post to about 20 communities. Got some traffic and new leads (job applications).

I went on, sending my posts about once a week, so they won't take me for a spammer. After my first "sale" (a craftsman starting work), I used 1 500 rubles ($23) to purchase paid posts from administrators from leading communities.

July came, the results looked like this:

13 037.80 rubles (about $200). Total profit: 11 537.8 rubles (about $177).

Pitfalls
  • Each community has their own rules for posting vacancies. Read and follow them to the letter, unless you want to get banned for spam.
  • Administrators generally dislike partner links. The market is flooded with scammers and other sorts of shady people. A cool hack is to ask potential applicants to PM you with all questions. That's where you give them the link to the offer.
  • Another trap with posting partner links directly is that administrators might register with the advertiser as well and cheat you out of your money. This is what happened to me in the largest community in the market.
  • Save links to published posts somewhere and check them several days after publication. People often ask questions in comments to your posts. You'd better answer them. You will also be able to compile a FAQ list and start adding it to your ads.
  • Soon, a similar offer appeared in other affiliate networks. There was one where they paid for applications, but a ton of additional requirements made the offer much less profitable.
  • All in all, the trick works great for other job offers and social networks.
Test it, scale it, make even more money with it!
