Web threats to surpass e-mail pests

By next year, Internet users can expect more cyberattacks to originate from the Web than via e-mail, security firm Trend Micro predicts.

E-mail has traditionally been the top means of attack, with messages laden with Trojan horses and other malicious programs hitting inboxes. But the balance is about to tip as cybercrooks increasingly turn to the Web to attack PCs.

"By 2008, most of the threats you are facing will be Web placed. Today most of it is still e-mail," Raimund Genes, Trend Micro's chief researcher, said in a presentation at the Gartner Symposium and ITxpo here on Monday.

Everyone better start protecting their PC's. Most people don't have a firewall or antivirus installed. Dangerous.

This scares me... I use windows fire wall, I did have mcafe but it seemed to intefere with everything, any suggestions for a better firewall and should I install an anti virus, this is one of the big downsides for the internet IMO, some people are evolving in an internet sense far quicker than others, I still have friends in their late 20's that do not have the internet.

There is quite a few free Anti Virus programs including AVG, AVAST.

Firewalls: ZoneAlarm, Outpost

sorry I just noticed taht as well, good work, I will give a read.
I used to have zone alarm on an old pc and I liked the way it was simple to install and use.
