Now affiliates are escaping their low commissions and start seeking elsewhere.

Start a blog about tech and software advice/solutions. The reasons for this is demand in the new normal for online services more companies going online (yes thats right many just realised this) also more people making a living working from home.
This option requires commitment and dedication, this vertical is not a get quick rich scheme but serious business that with time will start delivering commissions.

Actually; Why does Amazon really need affiliates now anyway? --Amazon is a well known brand. Bezos just saves advertising money I think (is Amazon's motivation).
