Some basic questions about landing pages

Hi

Currently, I am promoting email submit offers on 7search PPC through direct linking. I read everywhere that I should also test it through landing pages.

So, how do we get people to sign up through landing pages?
Is it like 7search --> Landing Page --> Offer?
Is landing page always a one page website or it may have more pages also? If possible, Please suggest a newbie friendly resource where I can read about landing pages for CPA offers.Thanks for the help.

landing pages can be used for several reasons including, pre selling your offer, gaining and opt in (email, name etc) and more.

I'd test both but personally look into building or getting some email opt in landing pages or squeeze pages so you can gather the users email to market to.
