I've been building a CPL/affiliate content site for the past 3 weeks and wanted to share my progress and get feedback from the community. This is my first serious attempt at a content site for affiliate marketing.
What I'm Building
A CPL/CPA information site focused on practical guides, network reviews, and offer selection strategies. The goal is long-term organic traffic → affiliate commissions from network referrals and tool recommendations.

What I'm Building
A CPL/CPA information site focused on practical guides, network reviews, and offer selection strategies. The goal is long-term organic traffic → affiliate commissions from network referrals and tool recommendations.
Current Status (Week 3)
- 50 published articles across 7 categories (beginner guides, offer selection, network reviews, traffic sources, tracking, case studies, advanced strategies)
- Site live on a static setup (fast, cheap, low maintenance)
- 27 pages indexed in Google so far (out of ~75 discovered)
- Approved on 2 affiliate networks with real referral links live
- Email capture working for lead magnets
- Content production is the easy part. With AI assistance, writing 50 articles is fast. The bottleneck is distribution — getting those articles in front of actual readers.
- Google sandbox is real. We're at 27 indexed pages after 3 weeks on a fresh domain with zero backlinks. The content quality doesn't matter if Google doesn't crawl it.
- Affiliate network approvals are harder than expected. Most networks want to see existing traffic before approving new publishers. Starting with beginner-friendly networks first and working up makes sense.
- Forum engagement is underrated. Participating genuinely in communities like AffiliateFix builds both backlinks and credibility. Much more valuable than spamming links.
- Distribution channels narrow fast. Started with plans for 5+ channels — Reddit, forums, Quora, Medium, social. In reality, effective channels that actually work for a beginner: forums (like here) and Reddit (slow karma grind).
- Focus on getting those 48 "discovered but not crawled" pages indexed
- Build first backlinks through forum participation and directory submissions
- Reddit karma grind to unlock more subreddits
- Wait for first organic visitors to trickle in
- First commission goal: any amount, just to prove the model works
- Total investment: $0 (domain + Cloudflare free tier)
- Revenue: $0 (no traffic yet)
- Time: ~10 hours/week
- Articles: 50
- Indexed pages: 27/86
