I'm about to launch a new product, and as it's a pretty unique product a number of large affiliates have signed up to promote it. I expect this to be my biggest launch to date - by far.
Sure, server meltdown is fine if you've set up everything with a nice margin of safety, but than had 10 times the expected traffic - but it's a real bummer if you were a moron who didn't prepare as needed.
Because of this, I'd like to make sure everything's set up right and would really appreciate your advice on this.
Current Setup:
Thanks guys!

Because of this, I'd like to make sure everything's set up right and would really appreciate your advice on this.
Current Setup:
- WP site, possibly slow loading theme
- Landing page streams a vid from my vimeo account (not locally hosted). Otherwise nothing very heavy there, except it being WP.
- Buyers enter a members' zone, where the FrontEnd product is available for watching online (again vimeo) and BackEnd products will probably be set for downloading.
- Currently using HostGator's shared Baby Plan. Too late to switch hosts (launching this Tuesday and enough work till then as it is) but switching plans or servers is possible.
- My other sites using this account are pretty dormant. However, some have zillions of inodes.
- At what rate of incoming traffic (Landing Page only) should I have to switch plans, and to what?
- Do I have to do this beforehand (based on expected traffic) or is migration (within same host) quick?
- Do I have to inform my host about the launch? Any specific info that I should provide?
- Does streaming from Vimeo load my server?
- How important is it to clean-up other websites that I have on this server? They're pretty dormant, but some have zillions of inodes.
- Backend products are heavyweight downloads (several gigs of videos). Should I set them on external servers or locally? which external providers do you recommend?
- Anything else that you think I should know.
Thanks guys!
