I received an email from Google this morning. I'd forgotten this was coming. They notified all Google Devs a couple of months ago it was coming after an abundance of debate on this.

HAS ANYONE ELSE RECIEVED THIS YET?

Huh. I used Bing but not Google at one time.

How do you feel about it?

It certainly increases transparency but I can see the other side of the coin, too. If you don't want your mom to know you're running adult toy ads, or something. :rofl

How do you feel about it?

Well, I have mixed feelings about it. I just formed a new LLC yesterday and a new business rust by the same new name, LDC LLC. I'm changing all accounts to the new LLC to eliminate my name form the disclosures.

If you don't want your mom to know you're running adult toy ads, or something. :rofl

Well, she is not with us anymore, and because of our rocky relationship she may have been among those I would love to have tortured with the knowledge I was doing that. :rofl

It certainly increases transparency

That's the thing that will make it tougher for some of the Blackhat's and actually may show trust improvements for the rest of us.

Most US states require annual filings for Corps, LLC, PC etc. naming the officers as well as the Resident Agent.
Exceptions:
  • New Mexico LLC (no annual report, no member/manager names)
  • Wyoming LLC (low fees, high privacy, strong protections)
  • Delaware LLC (prestige + privacy combo)
One thing to consider if you ever get sued, you're probably going to have to go to that state to defend the lawsuit.
That's going to be expensive if you're not a resident.

Actually, in most states, NY included, require LLC's to pay a bi-annual fee (NY is just $9.5). Starting the LLC's is typically more expensive than "S" corps to register in most states because they require advertising the formation of the LLC in print for several weeks , which is usually more expensive than the actual LLC formation. "C" corps are a different animal and can get a bit more expensive than the other two becasue they are a true separate entity and not a "pas through" entity.

I just wanted to change my current LLC holdings in advertising to the new LLC because its name is now displayed with all Google Ads. This is going to be expanded going forward. Google is planning an available "pop-up" on the funding name with more details in the future. Also, we will see this coming with other traffic sources and ad platforms in the near future because Tier 1 countries are considering this as a statutory requirement.

Most all corporate entities write into their terms, and privacy statements, that all legal actions are subject to the state of registration for the entity being sued. As the corporate entity, this puts the burden of travel and/or legal representation on the individual, or entity, to take action in the state of corporate formation.

I never said it seals my identity. I said I changed the LLC so that my name, T J Tutor, did not show on the ads. I am fully aware someone can look things up. I simply pointed out that the published name on the ad will no longer be mine. The number of individuals that would look up the details of an LLC or Corp is minuscule and I don't care about them.

Filing fees are are minimal that is not relevant.

I was only responding to that because you brought it up.

Did you have to set up a new bank account too --more time and BS.

Of course I did. I can't see your point that it is bs in anyway. I had a goal, my name not being under the ads, and I followed through with what is appropriate to accomplish that with all the business requirements needed. I have many dozens of domains, several businesses, and many well established content sites and establishing them with well thought out credentials and business accounts is far from bs. It's good business practice. I have a legal team, I have an accounting firm, I have a tax team, and I have plenty enough business experience established with an excellent track record. I don't deal in bs of any kind.

Google is probably doing this "transparency" bit because the are such crooks that they want to be able to deny any culpability of their customers actions as multiple governments are suing them into the dirt. It wasn't us --no mia culpa

The dev conference a few months back did highlight those sentiments to some degree. They do hope it stems abusive support requests when advertisers abuse the system. They do want the weight of discrepancies and issues to fall on the advertisers and not the platform. This will escalate.
