Webmasters just dream about getting PageRank 10. Though it is unofficially proved that PageRank has very little effect on SERP, webmasters would do anything to achieve higher PR. There are webmasters or SEO companies who don’t even slightly hesitate to apply Black Hat SEO / spamming for PR even though know they might be blacklisted in Google.

Anyway, here is a list of PageRank 10 websites according to Google PageRank update on April, 2008 - Adobe, Macromedia, W3C, Nasa etc.

Webmasters just dream about getting PageRank 10.

And we keep dreaming, but it will never happen, lol. Also some of those sites in that list I never visit. Especially the US Gov ones... I don't even get how those can be PR10, it's a conspiracy!

I thought Apple was a ten but is only a nine. They're certainly very few and far between

Google introduced a HUGE PR a;gprithm change in January, and the ripples are still being felt with ppages falling out of the SERP's etc.

Over recent years Google has gradually reduced the weight given to PR when calculating SERPs, but obviously it is still a significant factor. The main Enemy of PR credibility as a major SERPs factor is 'Paid Links' and 'Contrived Links'. As time goes by, we will see more to come in weeding out these blatant SERPs manipulation tecniques and quite right too if only to reduce the number of Link Exchange Requests that dominate some Forums.

I think a better way of looking at it is; The Page rank has no effect on SERP, but all those good quality back links that increase your Page Rank Value can also increase your SERPs standing.

If PR has nothing to do with SERPs, why do Google bother with it??

TOOLBAR PageRank has very little to do with ranking, but who said actual PR doesn't? We can not see the actual PR, as only google have access to this from within the plex.

PR still plays a large part in the google system, as it is the importance element with relevance being the second element.

PR does LOTS of things, ESPECIALLY when it comes to duplicate content, volume of pages in the index, selection of pages in the inex etc.

Money matters more than PR

More than PR,what matters is whether the site is bringing you money or not.

BOOM. that is the sound of the nail being hit on the head. So many people seem to chase rankings, pr etc while all the time losing sight of the REASOn they want these items. OK if you are selling page rank via links ( call it what you like but if you set prices based on PR you are selling PageRank, and ask Bob Massa what happens if you get caught), then you deserve to be beaten up by google.

set the reason for living of your site, and EVERYTHING you do thereafter should be to achieve that aim. NEVER lose sight of your real reason for living.

The PageRank that is displayed in the Google Toolbar is for entertainment purposes only. Due to repeated attempts by hackers to access this data, Google updates the PageRank data very infrequently because is it not secure. On average, the PR that is displayed in the Google Toolbar is several months old.

If the toolbar is showing a PR of zero, this is because the user is visiting a new URL that hasn't been updated in the last update. The PR that is displayed by the Google Toolbar is not the same PR that is used to rank the webpage results so there is no need to be concerned if your PR is displayed as zero.

If a site is showing up in the search results, it doesn't not have a real PR of zero, the Toolbar is just out of date.

^^From Google themselves. Of course that us Pseudo PR.

So, pointless speculating how it's done.
