I learned SEO by tracking the search engines uptake of my coded product and then its empirical results.
I really paid little attention to SEO hacks from promoters :p

Unfortunately, search engines are always changing their uptake processes and ranking algorithms and what worked last week may not work a month from now.
So, when you are not a brand with all the "bells and whistles" --real SEO is not very stable and page 1 SERPS on popular keywords is near impossible. So, if you can scrape enough crumbs (low volume long tails) you can make some money.

Okay, I haven't done any SEO for years but as far as I can tell, there are two things that remain as true today as they did then:

- Optimize content and UX with your site visitors in mind and worry about Google less.
Yes, certainly be informed and understand how they operate if you find it helpful, use whatever tools work but in the end, your visitors are the most important part of the equation. Without them, you won't come up high in the SERPS anyway.

- Google WILL, not MIGHT change things on you.
I remember the first animal (Penguin? Panda?) change, when people were deleting hundreds of pages from their websites in order to be compliant and site owners losing their search ranking for unscrupulous sites linking to them through no fault of their own. It was madness and mayhem across the internet. That's Google for ya.

All that said, I believe that Honeybadger knows these things and uses them to his advantage. He's also gained a ton of knowledge about the working of SEO, so he can do any turnarounds and modifications pretty quickly, I imagine. And it sounds like things are working for him, too.

I, like Graybeard, have no love for Google but I recognize the benefit it is to a lot of people who want to work with it, no question. Different strokes for different folks.

Things change in life, so if you tire of it down the road Honeybadger, so what? You'll just delve into some other interesting method. Knowledge doesn't usually go to waste. And if you never tire of it, you'll be an expert - a 'guru" but a real one. :D

Meanwhile, keep having fun. Enjoy the journey and the rewards! :)

SEO matters
Google does not really change
some few tweaks here and there
some massive bombshells dropped
but overall it is the same game in 2022
as it was in 2002 and 2012
Quality content always wins

Working as a SEO i spend really a lot of time to get new information, cause if you want to be a really good specialist you need to read a lot, analyze information and also try something to do with your website, it is like infinity process and I really like it

I'm with you on that one, I used to spend more than an hour daily for a looong while but not I spend 2-3 hours a week. But it definitely helps with content creation especially the keyword research for me. I mean why create content that people won't be searching for?
Why is no one mentioning Ahrefs though? I'm a big fan and have been following them for months now.

Guys SEO is so easy
it pains me to give you all the juice
being that I slaved so hard to squeeze it
but you have it for free guys
everything you need is free
like right the hell now
Its like HELLO? ANYBODY HOME?
TAP - TAP - TAP
Real simple -->
  1. Somebody searches Google
  2. you provide answer to their question
  3. they read your answer
  4. also you serve ads
  5. click ads = affiliate commission
Really is not difficult
homeless bum drug addict can do this
So if you have a home and are smart only one thing
you must be extremely lazy
