My full time role is an IT consultant and I also enjoy the web/online part which I started in 2007 part time.
Due to my job role being in IT I decided to setup an IT Blog a few years ago which became a blog where I would document fixes and tutorials which I could revisit in future.
Over time, I started to receive hits from search engine users from around the world. I did not concentrate on traffic as much at the time. It was the content which brought in traffic.
Soon, IT companies started to contact me for advertising.
According to my experience, if you want traffic, build on your content.
Start a blog about a hobby, something you enjoy or related to your full time role.
Blog about topics which others will find useful. Read your blog posts and ask yourself if others will find them useful.
How do you generate traffic to your Blog?
