Thats really quite easy to do with PHP.
fopen will open a file:
PHP Tutorials: Opening a file with fopen
so something like this would join the 2 files together & create a 3rd new file:
$txt_1 = fopen("text_dir/file_1.txt", "r");
$txt_2 = fopen("text_dir/file_2.txt", "r");
$new_txt =...
There's no need to focus on pagerank - you can get good search result positioning without good pagerank....many seem to think that pagerank is on the way out.
Focus on content & link building - the rest will follow.
To rank well in Google you need good unique content and an optimised website. Once this is in place, you then need to get plenty of inbound links coming in that contain your search key phrases...then keep adding to your content as the links are coming in.
When link building, watch out for...
I tend to only follow Twitter users that live in my area - if you interact with them in a positive way they all know about you...it raises awareness - I don't pimp myself on there...I'd lose followers that way.
I use Google as my main search engine - but when can't get a good result I find that Bing works well...almost too well for a microsoft product:whistling:
Have unique content that Google won't find anywhere else, have the content and the coding of the whole site optimised for the search engines...then do some link building to gain as many incoming links as possible - this helps a lot, and key words in the link text are also important.
If you signup for the Google Webmaster Tools you can see a bit more info that Google has on your site...it will tell you how many pages have been indexed & if the bots have found any problems that need addressing.
I've found Google to be a bit slow at picking sites up over the last couple of...
Thats probably the cleanest & easiest introduction to PHP I've seen - nicely done.
For anyone wanting to take PHP a step further, W3 Schools have a good PHP reference section.
In answer to the post above - you can write php in any text editor just as you can with html...the php extension...
I personally think its a bit too early to start using it....it'll be a while before it gets properly adopted & I think we have to wait to see what happens with the whole flash thing as well....I do like some of what HTML 5 has to offer though - I'll get round to having a play at some stage.
crikey - I didn't realise it was that often.
Recently I've been using some search result tracking software that shows a graph of search result placements in time - you can see placements go up and down, presumably due to changes...its geeky but interesting to play with.
I'm Tom - a web designer and developer based in Norfolk, UK.
I'm experienced in html, CSS, PHP, some javascript & jquery...looking forward to helping some other members soon.
I have to say though - it'd be nice if the forum could lose some of the spam...makes it hard to find real posts.
I've been using Macs for well over 10 years now - I had a virus once back in OS8.6 or OS9 days. I'm sure they still exist now if you look hard enough for them.
The reason why a virus that effects a PC won't effect a Mac is down to it being a piece of software...Macs & PCs use different types...
Getting to the top will depend on the amount of competition for your chosen keywords.
The last few places up the ladder can be the hardest to achieve - its all about the content & inbound links...a quite a bit of work to make it happen.
I know this is an old thread...
I've just redesigned a clients website that runs on OsCommerce - its a nightmare to work with as a designer...quite dated in the way it works - you'd be better off looking at more modern solutions like Magento - google 'ecommerce software' & see what comes up.
I tried advertising in local press - had quite a poor response...lesson 1, people tend to look online for web related businesses...don't waste money on print.
Business networking is a good way forward, but can be a bit daunting if you're new to it & a bit pricey as well.
In my experience, an ebook is normally a PDF file - you can create a pdf with most word processors or design packages....not sure why you want a script?
I think you'll probably need to use javascript as most social sharing gizmos are javascript....you'd need to create a function that is triggered when the user shares the article....this isn't going to be straight forward to do. You might be better off seeing if you can find an off the shelf...
One thing to consider when building using fluid widths, is that when viewed on a widescreen monitor, some paragraphs can become very wide & difficult to read as a result.
