About the meta tags - I'm thinking no. I know they still look at the title tag obviously, but you still might want to optimize the meta tags for Bing / Yahoo purposes.

Let's say you are selling shoes. PPL don't type in shoes to buy them online - they might put "Nike Jogging Shoes" - this would be an example of a long tail keyword. This is more specific and will get you more conversions.
