    MYSQL ordered table

How about using a "priority" column so you can easily switch entries around and allow you to order the questions quickly within the SQL SELECT statement? ChrisB.

Does the average UK user uses google.co.uk or google.com?

Since the com automagically redirects to co.uk for me (and others) I would guess a fair amount will use the co.uk site. ChrisB.

Hosting companies no phone support - Servage the dinosaur

I've used them in the past but I'm not a fan of them popping up asking me to talk (like they do/did on rackspace). ChrisB.

Hosting companies no phone support - Servage the dinosaur

Since I hate using the phone, offering phone support isn't going to increase the companies "worth" to me unless its something more than hosting/dedi (i.e. transit/etc). Also any "internet company" that requires me to use the phone makes me cringe and that includes Nominet and thier "you cannot...

    To make search engine

If your looking at a small search engine say for a niche, mnogosearch might be of some use as well as the many other off the shelf search engines. ChrisB.

    Windows, Linux, or Mac?

On the desktop I'm still a Windows XP user, I've tried using kde/gnome in the past, but I just don't seem to be as productive using it as I am with Windows. On the server front mostly Linux, but I do recommend/support some Windows/Exchange combos where they provide a better solution to some...

If you don't use file sharing with other machines it might be worth a try. ChrisB.

    How often do you blog?

I also only blog about once every 3-4 months and normally I only blog about technical issues related to what I'm doing at the time in case I have a brain fart or some other crazy fool tries to do what I was doing ;). ChrisB.

    anyone using UK2 web hosting?

I've managed a few UK2 servers for clients recently and support was lacking which is a real shame as at one point I was getting more sense out of UK2 support than I was Rackspace. ChrisB.

Who do you host with? And what?

I use a mix of shared, dedicated and colo. For dedicated I use GNAX in the US/PoundHost in the UK and Kewlio for colo - happy with them all really :) I also have a shared account with DreamHost for a couple of sites hosting images. Support/Sales are clueless but if it goes down I'm not really...

Nominet registered the 7th million domain

Sorry I meant the 7 millionth domain is commercial and was opted out of the whois at the time of the press release. ChrisB.

Link from website in same IP will be bad ?

I have ~160 domains on one IP and quite a lot of them link to each other and they range from Google PR3-PR6 (and a new one at PR0) so I don't think it does them any hard from what I see. ChrisB.
  17. BurtyB

Why are domain registration fees going up?

I guess we should all follow Nominet if we don't want the price rises and buy .*.uk since "72% of users are more likely to choose a .uk rather than a .com address when looking for information online" ChrisB.
  18. BurtyB

Why are domain registration fees going up?

Because they can ... I can't see the base price of .com/net not being increased every year by VNDS when they're allowed to do it. ChrisB.

Nominet registered the 7th million domain

Since blacknight is a member of Nominet I would have expected you to know about opting out of the whois. Opt Out ChrisB.

Has your company upgraded to Vista?

No thanks life is too short - I hate it due to practical reasons, mostly the way Windows Mail sucks big time in its handling of large numbers of mails via IMAP (I'm talking millions) which work well with Outlook Express and XP (I haven't found a commercial email client that works as well either...
