    Promotion forums are a great way to start, I actually happen to own one. Once you get some members, you can start to get a userbase that people will want to join if they see you on social media, which is a good next step. :)

    Do domains affect SEO?

    I would think in a backdoor way, yes. The .com will be more popular among people than the .info, and would eventually probably garner more backlinks and traffic, and search engines would pick up on that.
