Why Domain Name System is required?

Domain names are managed by the Domain Name System (DNS) system and have been specially designed to allow people to easily share network resource addresses, not IP addresses. For example, when we talk about websites and want to convey the address of a site to our friends, we usually say the symbolic name of the site, not its IP address.
