Hi everyone. My name is Petrina and I'm very eager to learn about affiliate marketing and e commerce, so that I can work remotely. I'm terrible at teaching myself and wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction for some education or mentoring?

Many thanks

Trina

Hi, Trina. Welcome to AffiliateFix!

wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction for some education
Yup, we can. First, the basics to give you a knowledge foundation, including terms. recommended tools, etc.:

Then read through some of the posts and ask questions:

As far as a mentor.....this forum is your mentor. We have some very seasoned and successful members who can help you by answering your questions, or advise you as you go in an online journey.

All of that should get you started. :) Always let us know when you have questions and enjoy your new venture!

Thank T J. Where do I start? My brain is fried with all of this information. I tried Amazon Affiliate Marketing once by posting links on Pinterest but got nowhere with it. I also tried to get some mentorship and training via LinkedIn but got scammed by a person trying to steal my identity and information. Do you happen to offer any training sessions?

Thanks

Trina

First of all, there is no "mentorships" in this industry. True mentorships are not purchased. True mentorships are between a mentor and the "protégé" the mentor selects. This is most notable in the academic arenas globally, but can be found in some areas of business. Stop pursuing a mentorship. You will just get taken to the cleaners as has happened to you already.

You need a community like AffiliateFix. you can learn from loads of members that have been through what you are going through right now. Many minds are always superior to a single mind!

You must accept the fact that you are now a student. That is, and must be, your starting point. All education must provide a curriculum. There is not shortcut. You must become an really good student the best you can. Take this posture and position and you will succeed at a pace that is naturally yours. Some get through their learning curves faster than others, some much slower, but on average a solid average student can, and will, build a stable profitable business within a six month period. If you think that is too long, then perhaps you should consider something else. This isn't 1996 when you could build a half ass pdf and get unsuspecting people to buy it thinking they'll get rich. This is 2025 and the industry is sophisticated, regulated, and requires adaptive skill sets that require continuing education. All of us, everyone of us, are always portioning a segment of everyday dedicated to learning.

You must stop jumping around from one thing to another. The grass does not get greener! Research what makes up the industry, select a segment of the marketing practices to start with and stick with it until you master it. This is where the average of six months comes in. I've been in this since 1996 and I have seen the blood baths from those that say this is bullshit, and they typically fail and get out of the business pretty quick.

To Start:
Select a single niche.
Select a marketing method.
Select two traffic sources.
Join two affiliate networks.
Get a tracker.
Subscribe to an intelligence platform.
Study angles, hooks, and triggers.
Study forms of copy.
Learn about landers.
Learn about creatives.
Select one or two geos.
Select one or two demographics.

You need to study each of these so you understand their function, implementation, and proper use.
Write down a plan and write down a budget. Without these you have no internal guidance for assembling and deploying each of the requirements above.

Once you have these then you will begin to take action. you will build your first, of many, funnels. Plan on getting stuck, plan on making mistakes, plan on taking notes! Remember, YOU ARE A STUDENT and in your educational phase.

If you are serious, you will do the work necessary to build the beginnings of your new business. Once you complete these tasks then you will be ready to expand, build a team, and scale your business at your own pace.

Hi TJ

Do you know much about the High Achievers Society through Philip Johansson. It is a mentorship program for Affiliate Marketing and he has members who have made a fortune using the program. High Achievers Society through Philip Johansson

He is out of Dubai and considered a spoiled brat by others in the industry. I don't know him, but I do know that his "Find Out More" page is blocked by most web browser guards as a "riskware" page. The page itself is nothing more than a lead gen page to capture your personal info so he can start "malversating" you and with great frequency.

Have you independently verified this by having any one on one conversations with them and having them provide proof of their claims?

These reported successes are provided by every systems seller on the planet. They all make this claim! I could get a hundred videos made by humans making that claim by this time tomorrow by hiring a source on Fiverr recruiting from India, Pakistan, UAE, Philippines, Thailand, Nigeria, Indonesia, and many, many others. This is an old, very old, system selling funnel model. It has been around for years.

It is a mentorship program for Affiliate Marketing

AGAIN!!! It is not a mentorship. I explained to you above what a true mentorship is. All this guy is doing is selling his paid training! Stop getting sucked in to what you believe is going to make you rich. I was running bullshit funnels like this back in the mid to late nineties. I knew everyone of the pro's back in the day that started this entire area of training. IT IS NOT MENTORSHIP! Mentorships, true mentors, DO NOT CHARGE FOR TRAINING! They never recruit publicly, not ever.

Anytime you have to pay, it is nothing more than a paid training course, no exceptions. NOT EVER! It is paid training. Not a mentorship.

Here is another litmus test for mentorship, they NEVER mentor newbies. NOT EVER. True mentors only select experienced and well established individuals as a protégé

Merriam-Webster
A protégé is one who is already well established in a specific field and protected, or trained, or whose career is furthered by a person of experience, prominence, or influence.

Notice the word "one" in that definition!

As a newbie, you must focus on getting information from many sources, learn how to realize what is true and what is untrue. The easiest and most productive form of this is with a community. Many minds providing data always exceeds any and all information provided by a single individual. ALWAYS!

There are some good courses out there, but you are not ready for a course. Maybe after you do what I originally instructed you above and have some experience under your belt. That is when a very reputable course that is highly specific in methods, tactics, and strategies may benefit you and it is not a replacement for a community, it is something you add to your learning in a community.

You are starting business, not selling oranges on a street corner. You investment in your business requires you to invest in learning through collaborations, subscribing to tools platforms and purchasing tools, and not expecting great and profitable returns until you have become efficient with the many areas of managing your marketing and managing your business.

My brother is a Dr. and it took him many hundreds of thousands of dollars, almost 8.5 years of education and training before he could get hired in an established medical facility.

I was profitable and stayed profitable in far less than a year of training and less than a few thousand dollars, and was earning far more than my brother within three years . Today you can get well established in 6 months with a several thousand dollars and putting in a very dedicated work day each and every day. Compared to what a Dr., scientist, lawyer, etc., etc., has to invest in time or money, you cannot find another field of "legal" business to earn big money like you can in this business we are in.

Stop trying to find a single individual that will make you rich. You already got sucked into it once, don't make that mistake again.

Hey @Trina1974 - you’re definitely not alone, most people feel overwhelmed at the beginning, especially with all the noise and scams out there. affiliate marketing can be a great path to working remotely, but it works best when you treat it like a real business—not just dropping links. that means learning about traffic (free vs. paid), funnels, audiences, and tracking.

pinterest and amazon are tough starting points because they often have low commissions and slow momentum unless you're already great at content or SEO. don’t know much about philip johansson’s program firsthand, but I’d be cautious with any mentorship that promises huge income fast or requires large upfront payments. If someone made a fortune with it, great—but always verify before jumping in.

we work with affiliates who run performance campaigns across verticals like e-commerce, dating, crypto, and casino using paid traffic (CPC/CPM), so if that’s something you want to learn more about, I’m happy to point you toward real, scam-free education and tools. what kind of products or industries are you personally interested in promoting? That can help guide the right starting point for you.

Hi there.

Thank you for your detailed reply, I really am grateful. I'm interested in travel and health and fitness, particularly for women navigating the menopause, like me

I'm really unhappy in my 9 to 5 job so eager to work on my own terms as I'm 51 and running out of time

First, you have to understand what actually works for people in the situation you are proposing to market toward.
Secondly, you need to find products or services that would be valuable to those people.
Then you would need to find out if there are affiliate opportunities for selling or marketing those products.
Have you done that yet? I would do that before I spent a dime on marketing ads, tools, etc.

If you're at a loss of what you could be marketing to these women, maybe you should consult with ChatGPT, or some other AI first to get some ideas and directions.
That's either free or available for very nominal charge today.

Well, here's what AI thinks. I don't know. A lot of it is the typical bullshit, but some of it makes sense.
You need to sort this out for yourself. But it is a starting point.
