SEO & Backlink Advice for an iGaming Affiliate Site

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a new iGaming affiliate/review project and I’m trying to understand the safest long-term way to build backlinks in a competitive niche.

For newer affiliate sites, what usually works best?

Do you focus more on community mentions, directories, guest posts, partnerships, digital PR, or creating useful tools/content that can attract links naturally?

I would appreciate any advice from more experienced affiliates.

A lot of affiliate sites obsess over backlinks while publishing content nobody would voluntarily read without being financially threatened first.
In competitive niches, I’d focus on building:

• topical authority
• branded searches
• real traffic sources
• partnerships/community visibility

not just raw backlink volume.

Links still matter, obviously. But weak sites with “SEO-only” backlinks are getting easier and easier to spot.

Good points. I’ve actually been trying to move more in that direction with BestNorthCasinos by focusing on useful content, trust, and tools instead of just backlink volume. Interestingly, Bing still keeps suggesting I need more backlinks, so it sometimes feels like mixed signals depending on the platform

I think Bing is still more link-sensitive than Google in many niches.

But even there, low-quality link velocity can become a footprint fast, especially in affiliate verticals.

The interesting shift right now is that search engines seem to evaluate whether a site behaves like a real brand or just an SEO project.

Useful tools, branded searches, repeat visitors, mentions, and engagement signals are becoming harder to fake at scale.

Backlinks still matter, but they probably work best now as reinforcement of existing trust rather than the entire strategy.

That makes a lot of sense actually. I’ve started moving more in that direction with BestNorthCasinos — focusing less on mass pages and more on making the site feel like a real brand with tools, updated reviews, trust sections and a stronger Canada focus.

I also reduced my sitemap heavily and started improving the quality of the core pages instead of trying to scale too aggressively too early.

Interesting that Bing still seems more backlink-focused though. I’ve definitely noticed different signals between Bing and Google lately.

if i were starting a new iGaming site today, i'd focus more on building assets worth linking to rather than chasing backlinks immediately. the niche is competitive enough that low-quality link building tends to become expensive and difficult to maintain.

tools, original research, comparison resources, and genuinely useful content often create more sustainable opportunities than simply purchasing placements. slower at first, yes, but usually much stronger over the long run.

For long-term success, focus on high-quality, relevant backlinks rather than quantity. A combination of guest posts, niche-relevant partnerships, digital PR, and valuable content/tools that naturally attract links works best. Community engagement helps with brand visibility, but earning links through useful content and authoritative placements is usually the safest and most sustainable strategy.

For high-quality backlinks without the headache, I've found Crowdo's guest posting service really useful. They focus on reputable niche blogs, so you get trust and authority built-in. Plus, their no-payment-until-results policy ensures you get what you pay for. You might also want to explore their different packages to fit your budget.

Buying standard guest posts in iGaming is a money pit. The cleanest high-DR links we ever got came from reviewing B2B casino platforms. If you write a genuinely good breakdown of a software, their marketing team will often link back to you or feature you in their blog/resources.

Can confirm this actually works. We did a detailed teardown on NuxGame API setup a while back, sent it over to them, and they ended up linking to us from their partner resource page. Free DR 50+ link with zero outreach spamming.

For newer iGaming review projects, relying solely on organic guest posts or community mentions means waiting months to see a return while established domains outspend you on PBNs.
The most reliable way to scale a new affiliate review asset quickly is to supplement your SEO foundation with paid traffic (Meta or Google Search) directly targeting high-intent review keywords. The challenge is that ad networks will instantly flag your review site as a gambling gateway if their automated crawlers catch the direct outbound affiliate links. Keeping your accounts alive requires a robust backend setup—specifically using dynamic bot segmentation and smart safe-page deployment to protect your ad infrastructure while sending clean, high-intent players to your reviews. Are you currently relying 100% on organic SEO, or have you looked into paid media options?

This is the part most people miss: you sent it to them. Ninety percent of "linkable assets" die because someone publishes a great teardown and then waits for links to arrive on their own. The content was the bait, but the one email is what actually landed the DR 50. From the outreach side, pitches like yours get accepted at a completely different rate than a cold "we'd love to contribute a guest post." You weren't asking them for a favor. You handed their marketing team free third-party validation they can show prospects. Of course they linked it.
Did the partner page link move anything for you ranking-wise, or was the win more referral/relationship value? Asking because B2B resource-page links in this niche sometimes sit on pages with zero traffic, and I'm curious if the DR passed through to actual movement.
