I think the issue is not that AI learned from existing work because humans also learn the same way. Every artist, writer, and musician studies what came before them. The real debate is whether AI training should require consent, compensation, or attribution when using copyrighted material at scale. It is a much more complex question than simply saying AI learned from public content so it is automatically fair use.

Do you require consent when learning for others work or experiences—then publishing or making some other tangible uses with that information? I think it depends on the context that knowledge is used, any laws, and that law's actual enforceability.
If you take a copyrighted work, break it down, analyze the relationships between its parts, and learn from it, at what point does learning become infringement? Do you need permission simply to learn?
Scale is a false argument. The core argument is what matters.
