There are many PayPal alternatives available like Skrill, Transfast, Payoneer, 2CheckOut, Authorize.Net. You can prefer according to your main concern feature, as all options have it pros and cons.

Payoneer, Paxum, Skrill, ePayments, Revolut...

I have discovered Revolut just few days ago, still testing it but it is seems to be a very popular option for travellers and digital nomads since you can have funds seperated in different currencies, can exchange to other currencies etc.

For me still Payoneer is the best!

It probably depends on the country. Our clients (mostly UK) use Stripe the most. Even more than PayPal. For Germany for example Sofort seems to be quite popular.

I only use 3 which are PayPal, Paxum and Payoneer. Paxum and Payneer are popular with affiliate networks as they market their products for affiliates and the fees are cheaper than PayPal. Either one or both are usually available with the popular networks to use.

Alternative really depends on currency/payment needs, biz model and size. PayPal is good for online startups. So is Stripe. Problem is if you're going from $1000 to $50K in a month or 2, or are with them for 3 months+ and generate more money than usual, they'll start eyeing your account. If they don't like what they see or if you're in violation of terms and conditions for whatever reason you will get suspended. Especially true if you're a high risk business (e.g. selling marijuana or accessories, porn, supplements, etc.) they'll likely freeze your account, which sucks royally! That's why you should never leave money in there. If you're a startup, explore PayPal or Stripe to start, but make plans to upgrade.

The problem with alternative payments is: does you customer have immediate access to that payment solution?
We actually charged the customers a fee for the PayPal transaction --and they paid it!
The price of convenience ... go figure ...
