Hello to everyone reading this posting. I'm Steven, and you can call me Steels for short. I worked as an design engineer with a swiss manufacturing company. I'm in this trade for about twenty plus odd years. Since the day people considered that my trade is a sun setting trade, I'm sick of stepping out to seek employment again. Ever since I know I can earn a decent living off the internet, I set my mind working on this. To date, it is already four years since I started off, I have not really earn a dime off the net. Sad to say...(what a disgrace)..

I started off by looking for information, but there are so many information, today you hit a new information, tomorrow you happened to get even better information. And you would signup to get free ebooks and within a couple of weeks, your mailbox are jammed with mails which offer you other informations and so called 'Shiny Objects' and in the end, you ended up with so many information on hand till you don't even know where to start, how to start and what to do. Information overload......as what they claimed.

Next I make up my mind to shut off those 'Shiny object' syndromes. I attend my local seminars, what a disappointment, Spend 2 hours sitting there and listening to the presenter, and the first course I signed up, was how to create your own product and sell in online.

I paid S$3000.00, signup for the online course. eagerly awaiting for the approval to access the online course, hopefully I can pick up some ways to create a product and sell it online by setting up your own website. Six months down the course, I haven't have a slightest idea of what product to create, need to do keyword research and mind-mapping, goodness, by the end of the nine months period, I still have not come up with any product. Because my course is 1 year period, once your 1 year period is up, the logged in access to all the information is totally shut off. I started to panic, I wrote to the coach, hoping that he can still extend the time, but the word NO was slammed right onto my face. No choice, I still have a website for free, as a package, I wrote to them telling them that I need a website to sell stuff off Amazon, and as a package, they have to create a website for me, but to my disappointment, their reply to me was they can't provide me with sort of website, then I asked for a refund as I felt cheated, and was turned down, as they mentioned that within three months you don't benefit from this course, you can ask for a refund. There, my S$3000 burned.

Fast forward till today. Without giving up my internet business idea, I still believe I can't earn a decent money, I chance across the word CPA, and did a lot of read up on CPA, and they mentioned that CPA Marketing is the most easy way to earn money from. Again I did my own research and read up on a lot on CPA. One day, a mail with the CPA seminar pops in my email, and thus without any contemplation, I signup for the seminar, spent 2 hours and listen to presenter, ended up signing up the course for another S$3000.00, I didn't sign up straight away. I contemplate for a week, then I tell myself, this will be the last time. If this don't work out, I must as well go look for a job. And kiss good bye to my dream.

Four months after the course, I haven't even earn a dime yet, despite having setup about 15 campaigns. All my campaigns are direct linking and running on 50onRed traffic network. I'm a little discourage and disappointed. I am simply lost and seems to me that there isn't any more energy left in me, it's like fighting a losing battle and imagine so much money was being used up. What should I do?

During the course, was told that you have to do direct linking, if it is profitable, then you have to create a landers and scale it up. Do any of the seniors agree with this statement? If that is true, I am giving it a last shot at it.. or can any seniors here provide m with any advice? All advice are welcome.

Welcome Steels,

I am in no way a senior with affiliate marketing but I am definitely a senior who knows how to waste money because I too have spent way too much on believing that the next shiny object was going to make me money. The first thing I would say is there is no such thing as "buying" financial success so stop buying. This pattern does not work and only causes overload.

1. Pick one Specific type of affiliate marketing..ie website, mobile, email and stick with ONLY one until you master it.
2. Plan on NOT knowing everything, this makes it much easier when things go wrong to get back on the horse.
3. Take ACTION, not thoughts, wishes or excuses but real daily action.

To your success!

Look no further, you came to the right place that is for sure. We have a lot of good info and advice on the public forum, however, The Dojo would be the place for you to go if you are looking for tutorials and guides from many of todays to affiliates in the business.

Hello to everyone reading this posting. I'm Steven, and you can call me Steels for short.

Hello and welcome to the AffiliateFix @Steels ! Thanks for joining us.

To date, it is already four years since I started off, I have not really earn a dime off the net. Sad to say...(what a disgrace)..

NO DISGRACE! Get that stinking thinking out of your brain my friend. Anyone with dedication, a bit of a budget, and proper wisdom and advice can earn a steady living online. I would bet that the vast majority of members here have been through similar experiences to yours. That's not unusual, it is the typical scenario for most. You are in a community now and all of your fellow members want you to win at this game of IM!

I started off by looking for information, but there are so many information, today you hit a new information, tomorrow you happened to get even better information.

This is not a bad thing. It is a sign of growth. Learn to embrace change in this industry, otherwise you will spend all of your time complaining about it. Embrace he growth and understand that all of us are learning new things everyday, no matter how long we've been in this industry.

Newbies (and experienced marketers) require education and grooming from their respective counterparts in the industry in order to generate their own successes. Buying training materials from coaches and product developers is not a good idea for Newbies. Communities like this one, the AffiliateFix, is what Newbies require to establish their new businesses and get them to be self sustaining. You see, your fellow members are not trying to sell you anything, they love to give and share in order to help others (and one another) obtain the successes they seek.

Next I make up my mind to shut off those 'Shiny object' syndromes.

It would have been great if that is what you actually had done. However, you did continue to buy additional shiny objects.

Follow this advice and you will get to where you need to be.

Read and learn through extensive reading in this community. Select one vertical. one tracker, and one traffic source. Learn from your fellow members here to master each one of them (a couple of months). Then you can expand and replicate your successes.

As a Newbie, you need to read, study, invest, and implement. Perseverance, dedication, and taking action are the cornerstones of the success you will obtain.

Read
Read through the various areas of the forum to learn about the types of marketing available for your new business. Make a list of all the types of marketing and take some notes along the way. Then determine which area of marketing with which you will start your journey.

Do this to select an area of marketing to start, as well, do this to select a tracker, a traffic source, and to select a vertical.

Then read up on the affiliate networks and select two to begin with that will serve your needs and the types of offers you would like to promote. Put your application in and they will call you for an interview. Be professional and be prepared to answer some questions about how you will promote offers, do you have a website, are you a Newbie, etc. Please note, if you join the Dojo, we have a thread there that can offer assistance in getting accepted to some of the networks.

Study
Now that you have selected a basis to begin, read all of the threads in this forum that relate to your initial selections so that you have a rudimentary understanding of their features and benefits.

Invest
You will require some investment. A VPS server, domains, traffic, landing pages, etc. You will need a budget for daily, weekly, and monthly expenses. This will change over time and you will need to update it often so that you know exactly what your costs and earnings are.

Implement
This is where it all starts to earn. You must now begin to implement what you have established as your foundation for your business.

Here is some advice and guidance that will help you establish your initial goals:

Make sure you complete the following first.

Every business needs:

1. a plan
2. a schedule for research, learning, and execution
3. a budget.

Remember to read through our WIKI and get to know the basics as well as some of the buzz words in the industry.

I also recommend reading the following thread:

As a Newbie, What Stops You From Getting Started

Here is a set of immediate goals:

1. Get a VPS
2. Select a vertical
3. Select a tracker
4. Select a couple of networks and get your approval
5. Select a traffic source
6. Create a schedule for researching, learning (training), and working. This is a business, treat it as such!
7. Create a budget for every expense (daily, weekly, monthly)
8. Be very active in this forum by researching, asking questions, helping others when you are able.

As well, I highly recommend you join the DOJO as it is full of great tools and contributions for successful marketers. Click the banner below to learn more.

Good Luck!

First and foremost, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to those that replied and contributed their advise for me. I'm grateful for tjtutor for those kind words and lay out a plan for me. I didn't know that I would get this sort of respond. Anyway, I was accepted into 3 networks already. W4, Abovealloffers and A2ads. and my trafficnetwork is 50onRed, and tracking is CPV lab. To be honest, I do not zoom into any verticals, I will preview those offers and will study the landing page of the offers whether if it is good or attractive before I dived in to promote the offers.

As I have mentioned that I have created 15 campaigns, most of my campaigns are from W4, and none of them convert at all, Because I am doing direct linking, I don't know where problem arises as there are so many impression, but not conversion, just doing lead submit, also no conversion. and it boils down to one thing, and I often question myself, is direct linking dead... if it is not dead, why isn't any kind soul submit his detail, there isn't any purchasing involved why?? And to the point right now, I tell myself, maybe it is because I do not have a landing page, why not create a landing page and capture some leads for myself and then send them to the offer.

I do not know what I do is correct or not, I know for a fact that been a affiliate marketer, you are like a lost soul, and most of the time you find yourself talking to yourself and there isn't anyone beside you to say yes, maybe you should try this or try that... and often you yourself are the only person replying to yourself.

So, my landing page is having some problem, I haven't resolve the problem yet. once I resolve it, I will probably launch it and see if there is any result. YES!!!

You are on the correct path, but the thing is that direct link cannot track what your visitors are doing.
A landing page with tracking tools will help you identify what's their intention, and most marketer prefer a shortcut which in terms on CPC, CTR, CR(cost per click, click thru rate, conversion ratio).
