Money Saving PPC Hacks

Hartford Business recently had an article by Kate Gold that I found interesting. It offered six hacks for saving money in your PPC campaigns.

Gold claims that most people run their campaigns wrong, most of the time and waste a lot of advertising money.

To help correct that, she recommends the following PPC hacks:

1. Do not combine your display and search campaigns
- search ads are for buyers; display is better for brand awareness

2. Be sure to use geo-targeting wisely
- do not use broad country targeting if you are a restaurant in one local area

3. Trust your data to optimize
- if data says your ad stinks, it stinks. No matter how good you think it is
- be sure to do A/B testing, dynamic keyword insertion, etc. TEST, TEST, TEST

4. Pre-qualify with long-tail keywords
- Really tighten up your niche to attract the exact targets you're looking for

5. Use negative keywords
- Eliminate money-wasting clicks by listing which words you don't want your ad shown for

6. Do not set-and-forget
- Monitor and improve your ads weekly, don't neglect your campaigns

Using these tips in your PPC campaigns could save you a lot of money. I think it's also a good way to learn to become good at optimizing and potentially converting.

If you'd like to read the full article, you can do so Here.

Question
How many of these tips do you already use in your PPC campaigns?

Actually I use all of these tips and in my opinion #3 is very important. I did many mistakes thinking that I know what people are looking for and what they like. Don't do this... Data is King.

I agree with you. Without your data, you might as well be throwing darts in the dark. You have to trust what it's telling you and make modifications as necessary.
