Is Affiliate Blogging Still Worth It in the AI Era?

Starting an affiliate blog in 2026 still works, but not in the way people used to think. AI has made content easy to produce, so just publishing more articles doesn’t really move the needle anymore.
Buying an old blog can give you a head start, but only if it already has clean history and real topical relevance. Otherwise you’re just inheriting random content and hoping Google figures it out for you.
A new blog takes longer, but it gives you full control over direction and structure. If you actually focus on solving specific search intent instead of chasing volume, it can still grow from scratch.
At this point, it’s less about old vs new domain and more about whether you’re building something that deserves to rank.

Content is king and traffic is queen. Always been that way and will never change. The upswing for monetizing it all is dedicated and valuable content sites providing long term value with frequently updated human anchored content on dialed in niche information.

Many seek to position themselves with a blog. IMO this is a mistake. A true content site needs to be a custom site not based on an out of the box CMS platform. Any CMS is heavy code wise and dependent on the CMS provider as well as the 3rd party plugin providers. A CMS platform is useful, maybe more for just starting out, but the goal must be to reach a level for a true custom built platform.

A well built and properly marketed content site for a well substantiated niche will produce continual income when providing the archives of info on the niche as well as the frequently updated bleeding edge information for the niche.
