How important are domain names?

Hi guys, some landing page builders generates landing page urls that are really messy.

How important is it to have a landing page/sales page with a clean looking domain name? eg "domain.com" vs something like "golfstore.site.io/228383832".

Does the latter look spammy? Do people lose trust when they see a url like that?

Does it matter more to have good sales copy?

Thanks

SEO spam names are much better :D

If the URL is for an ad any real lift given by the URI probably doesn't matter much --is what I have found.
Use server rewrites is it's a real issue --but that is mainly to make search engine SERPs look better to the users/(searcher).

You can test using server rewrites --learn how to do that or just use many of the form tools.
WordPress will do this automatically if you enable it.
../3452398 => ../12/[extracted title(what-happens-when-you-hit-a-brick-wall)]/

Not really, but it would impact your seo and ranking..
"golfstore.site.io/228383832" Does it look spammy? Kind of

Clear domain look better from the user's perspective, it's not that important for the SEO itself, but it would be easier for you to, for example, share links from your site on some social media or as a part of some paid ads if the domain is short and if it directly refers to some page.

A domain name gives your business instant credibility and puts you in the same online marketplace as your largest competitors. It says that you mean business and helps online shoppers and customers see you as a forward-thinking company that is conveniently accessible online.

I would prefer you go with a clean domain name. example: domain.com . It's not necessarily just about losing trust, but it is harder for people to remember the full domain name incase they wanted to visit your landing page again and they didn't bookmark it.

Well, that rules out any domain in the .com gTLD with more than 6 or 7 word/or keyword characters. So, you can forget about EMD keyword domains --I find them all registered and many unused and for sale.

So, nonsensical short branding names are the only alternative in .com (or any TLD really) if the name is not already trademarked.

The new gTLDs are still shaky as the user will still assume the .com (or so the argument goes) ...
