Hi Everyone. My name is Matt and Im new to this site. I've been interested in affiliate marketing for quite awhile probably since around 2007ish. I read a lot back then but never could quite figure out how to begin. After all these years have gone by the itch to start my own business in this realm has never left but the discouragement I felt back then has kept me from returning and trying again. Its taken a long time for my desire to succeed to outweigh my fear of failure. As I began to research again into affiliate marketing I was led to this forum and I was filled with encouragement once again. I am certain that with all the knowledge within this forum that I will be able to finally start taking action and not just spending countless hours reading. I look forward to my time here and hopefully to develop beneficial relationships in the future.

Yeah, people sometimes get stuck in the reading or beginning stages and sometimes their fear or disappointment keeps them from ever taking the next step. Sounds like you're ready to move forward and take action now, though.

If you give us some idea of where you're at with things, we might be able to suggest some starter threads. If it's been a long time, you might want a refresher, or maybe even just start over new with the latest info.

Anytime you have a question or need moral support or help, just start a thread to let us know and we'll do as much as we can to help you. We have many knowledgeable members willing to jump in to help others.

Thank you Azgold! I definitely need a refresher and to start over new with the latest info. I guess I would be in the stage of finding my niche then exploring products around that niche to promote. So basically stage 1 if that is stage 1

Well, these are the two threads that I always recommend for newbies, so you might find them helpful:

WIKI (START HERE) (lingo/terminology, definitions, tools you need, etc.)
Newbie Helpdesk (newbie questions, challenges and concerns)

Now, I'll return this thread to introductions, so others can offer you a warm welcome, along with the ones above. :)

Well my main goal is to achieve freedom from being a slave working for someone else. I hope to achieve that by the end of this year. Im not starting this business in hopes to pay my current bills because I do realize that is unrealistic.

Well Im not afraid to fail anymore. I welcome failure because that means I have actually begun to implement strategies rather than doing nothing other than being stuck in the information overload loophole.

Great, how much money do you need to earn in order to work for yourself? (bills)
It's of vital importance you know how much you need - that's your financial target
Once you have a target set a date - you've said December 31, 2021
These are plans, everything else are dreams

Who told you that?
Why is it unrealistic to pay your bills from affiliate marketing?
Not saying it's all plain sailing, but sure it's realistic
Go for it - start today !!

Not necessarily unrealistic.

You may not have gotten to his threads yet but @Honeybadger is doing just that. He's put a lot of blood, sweat and tears, along with singular focus and drive into it but he's accomplishing his goals.

Well that would be great if I can start earning immediately but I personally find that to be unrealistic for anyone just starting but then again what do I know? I will be sure to check out his threads.

Learning a new language from scratch

So lay a strong foundation now, starting with the basics
  1. How much do you need?
  2. When do you need it by?
Everything else will come with the passage of time ..

He didn't start earning immediately. The foundation had to be built first.

He set his goals, made his plan, took action. Re-examined his courses of action when necessary. Made just shy of his $10,000 goal in his first year, has set himself a bigger goal for 2021.

If you read his follow-along threads, you'll see how he works. That will give you an idea of how things are if you decide you want a product selling website.

Another guy knocking it outta the park is @shaunm . He makes his living from blogs.

You may not want to take that route, you might prefer CPA or something. That's okay, too, whatever you want, just wanted you to know that with the right amount of dedication and determination, you can definitely make money in your first year. And if you prefer CPA over e-Comm, we have a TON of information here in the forums on that, too. :)
