I just joined ABestWeb forum too so I'm copying and pasting my intro from there to and making a few minor changes since not much has changed since yesterday :)

Hi everyone, my name is Amy, I am married and am a Professional Dog Trainer. I am from Idaho and am 24 years of age. I am rather new to all of this affiliating marketing and such so will probably be needing a bit of help. I joined this form to find others that actually do Affiliating and hope to learn from everyone!

Yesterday I started a new blog, and I hope to do a lot of my Affiliating from there. I also do have a website but I need to re-model it and get up a page for Affiliating. I don't want to come off as Spammy on my website or blog, so am looking for ways to really promote what I believe in and what interests me.

(New today - I have started building my webpage I will be adding onto my dog training website and it is going well. I think I've found a good way to not look like I'm spamming up my website while still promoting things I truly recommend.)

I know I'm going to need a lot more places to generate 'traffic' to my blog & site though, in which I hope to join more forums in my area of interest. Other than that I'm not really sure what to do.

Any ways, I do have a lot of interests, so could do a variety of things but my main focus has always been animals especially dogs and training so that's what I've chosen to start off with.

I look forward to meeting all of you! Perhaps you could help me get started by telling me a little about what you do? How much income do people actually make off of affiliating and how much time and such do you put into it? I'd really love to get started on the right track on this one. I know this isn't a 'Get Rich Quick' type thing and is going to take some work. I'm certainly willing to do that!

Thanks

I'm already really enjoying it here and have found some GREAT topics! Especially the 'If You HAD to Start Over - What would you do differently' post. I am still reading through all of that and am learning quite a bit from it. I still have a lot to look over in this form but I'm happy to be here and surrounded by others who have traveled and are traveling the same path.

Today I posted my first 'Real' article to my blog with the content I actually plan to mostly have in my posts. I'm sure I'll add on to that as time goes on but for now I think it gives me a good start.

Hello, Amy. Glad to have you join us at Five Star - and it's always nice to have another pet lover in the group. :)

Hi Amy, welcome to 5 Star! I really enjoyed reading your intro. Sounds like you have the right attitude to make a success of AM.

Just remember that even knowing that it isn't a get-rich-quick scheme, you may still find that it takes longer or more work than you realized. However, you can be assured that it is worth it if you stick with it.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :) I realize it can take a while to see any results, up to a year or more at times. So I can be prepared to not see much just starting out and focus more on getting good content, valuable information up and a trusting relationship between me and my followers. I have some good ideas, I just need to put them into effect.

I am curious though, How often do you guys check your accounts to see if anyone's bought anything? Would once a month be a good idea or more often? Thanks :)

If you're just starting out, you should be checking every 5 minutes. :D

lol, that's certainly what I want to be doing, but I was wondering if doing that could be discouraging to not see anything happening over and over again. It's probably more along the lines of what ever works for you. I'm thinking the thought of not knowing if anyone is clicking on stuff and buying is better than knowing people are not clicking & buying at all. Who knows, maybe someone is buying, that could be more motivating than knowing that they are not. Checking all accounts is also time consuming, I could be spending more time getting word out about my blog and such than checking to see weather or not I've made anything yet.

I probably just answered my own question lol, I think in my situation it's probably best to only check every so often, maybe once a week or once a month so those 0's don't discourage me.

Sorry to drag this up from the dead!

Just wanted to do a bit of a re-intro since I've come back!

Most of my update is in the thread: How Did You Get Started So you can read all of that there. (Sorry if I'm not supposed to post a link, I figured since it's a thread on this forum it would be okay).

Anyways, I'm back at this affiliating stuff. Mostly through Squidoo rather than my blog, since...well.. I actually made some money off of Squidoo :D

I guess there's not much else to say since I've been putting all my updates in the thread ^ above. So just wanted to say I'm back!
