Google to index Twitter?

Certain articles are speculating that Google will soon announce a deal allowing it to index Twitter and display results on a separate page, like it does for News. Twitter may therefore get a lot less pointless as times progresses if this happens.

Any thoughts on the SEO aspects of this possibility?

I saw the headline in a popular search blog in my feedreader today.
Can't find it now though. Didn't read, so not sure if it was speculation or fact.

Google looking to twit

The reference I found yesterday is:

What struck me about it is that, although in my view Twitter is an utterly inane and retarded form of social communication and the article probably speculative, it does make sense for Google should be interested.

If you look at the profiling of what people are interested in, how they lead their daily lives, etc., it would be a huge bonus to Google's marketing efforts.

Other than that, I really don't see the point of it and why it has become so popular. Maybe the dissemination of news is a worthy alternative channel but stories of someone's progression in the queue at the Tesco checkout counter is risibly perverse.
