I did see the message stating forums offline which appeared towards the top of the forum but was still able to browse around the forum. I guess I was in a cached session

Well.. I suppose the new owners of vB have plans to roll out lots of new adons including their owne blog software... this is just and upgrade to prepare vB to work with this addons plus some minor security updates

sorry about that, the webmaster does not like working nights so he choose to do the upgrade durring the day.
