Fashion Affiliate Marketing Journey 2021 (SEO Traffic)

Too many projects (no time)

Hi again, I've just read a post about building an informational intent website from Shaunm (if I remember correctly) and seen the way he runs his project, then I've got some key points to share (and let's discuss together the pros and cons of this method, too):

1. He hires writer to write over...3-5 articles per day (each has about 1500~2000 words)
2. Most of the time, he does research keywords, analyze, report, optimize,...
3. And yes, he made over $3000 per month :D

Management is the important key, which includes managing people as well.

1. He hires writer to write over...3-5 articles per day (each has about 1500~2000 words)
It's the smart move for that length and frequency of content
Generally, my product posts are alot shorter than 2,000 words, and generally follow the same template (which takes me around 10 minutes to publish)
If I was regularly publishing 2,000-word articles then I'd follow @shaunm and outsource
@shaunm is light years ahead of me in affiliate marketing
His level of consistency/earning is hard to reach

2. Most of the time, he does research keywords, analyze, report, optimize,...
Keyword research is incredibly important - and you will have read from my earlier posts
However I don't spend an inordinate amount of time on research, and blogging is not my core traffic strategy
Most of my time is spent on 3 main areas
  • Improving software skills
  • Staying current with Google Search ranking
  • Finding new products to add
3. And yes, he made over $3000 per month :D

Kudos !!
$3,000 per month is a full-time income for most people
I am subscribed to Shaunm on You Tube
Recommend that you do the same

Landing Page Guys just posted a 45 minute video
Called "Fashion Homepage Best Practises" (fashion audit starts around 38 minute mark)
I will post notes after watching

What do you think @SEOBlogPosts? ;)

Notes
  • Fast page loading (check tools list)
  • Don't send traffic to homepage (send to clothing product page)
  • Help user find clothing products quickly (navigation)
  • Good fashion store example is https://asos.com
  • Search tool is very important
  • Branding very important for fashion sites
  • Add a sales/discount section with special offers
  • Make text standardized (font, size and color)
  • Make sure all images can be clicked (hyperlinked)
  • Add payment icons
  • Include any customer testimonials

Q1 Business Report (Part IV-B)
1.1.2021 - 3.31.2021

In this final part (of the final part ;)) of my Q1 report I am posting the schedule that I will follow for the next 3 months, until Q2 report, including all the action points from the SWOT analyis, and this plan begins tomorrow

Focusing on 2 niche clothing fashion affiliate sites, targeting summer collection for customers in USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand - it's important that my plan is realistic even if I am still trying to reach $100,000 commission by Christmas, in all honesty I feel like the first 3 months of 2021 were wasted (my own fault being lazy and getting sick), but its all an important learning curve for future success

Weekly Schedule
Monday thru Friday ( :) = notification )
  • 8am - 9am --> SEO Software Education :) (Ubersuggest, Yoast, Wordpress, Console, Analytics)
  • 9am - 12pm --> Affiliate Products :) (product research, uploading & optimization)
  • 12pm - 1pm --> Breaktime/Gym/Secretary interviews :)
  • 1pm - 4pm --> Promotional/Traffic :) (marketing posts, social media & collaborations)
  • 4pm - 5pm --> Management Tools Education :) (Agile, Trello, accounting, communication tools)
  • 5pm - 6pm --> Learning about paid ads :)
  • 6pm --> Stop working :)
Weekly Events
  • Monday --> Google Calendar Plan :) (7am), Backup Wordpress database :), Record Daily Stats :) (5pm)
  • Tuesday --> Google Calendar Plan :) (7am), Check Google rankings, Record Daily Stats :) (5pm)
  • Wednesday --> Google Calendar Plan :) (7am), Record Daily Stats :) (5pm), Competitor analysis
  • Thursday --> Google Calendar Plan :) (7am), Record Daily Stats :) (5pm), Save thread to Internet Archive
  • Friday --> Google Calendar Plan :) (7am), Record Daily Stats :) (5pm), :) Plan schedule for following week
  • Additional --> Schedule important podcasts and webinars
Weekends (no working unless I take 2 consecutive weekday off)

Software Subscriptions
  • Ubersuggest
  • Yoast
  • Wordpress Theme (pro version)
Realistic Income Target (2 affiliate sites)
  • April --> $500 (100 sales @ $5 commission/sale = $500) - loss making, paid July 1
  • May --> $1,000 (200 sales @ $5 commission/sale = $1,000) - loss making, paid August 1
  • June --> $2,000 (400 sales @ $5 commission/sale = $2,000) - break even, paid September 1
I don't have time right now to re-evaluate how I will earn $100,000 this year, or how to save $12,000 for 6 months security cushion, so all my focus will be to achieve my break-even monthly target of $2,000 which pays all my bills, once that is achieved I'll come back to profit in Q2 Report (1st week of July)

It's been a tough week

My new schedule is simple enough, but so easy to get distracted
Overall my productivity improved and 3 sites are now getting organic traffic from Google

My 1st Push Ads Campaign

Tried and failed to start learning about Push Ads Notifications
Will start again next week, so 1 week learning and 2 weeks live testing Push Ads

12 things I learnt about productivity

1 --> Keep a tidy workspace & keep water to hand
2 --> Monitor Google Search Console, when you see impressions jump go ahead and add content about those keyword searches
3 --> Go to the next calendar task time slot ends (try Google Calendar)
4 --> Plan jobs in advance (I do this Friday afternoon)
5 --> If a task takes 30 minutes, schedule 1 hour to complete task
6 --> Get ergonomic chair (need one, my back hurts!)
7 --> Get massage chair pad for ergonomic chair
8 --> Keep track of KPIs (impressions, ad clicks, conversions)
9 --> Switch off on weekends, easier said than done but very important for health
10 --> Accept that you can't do everything, focus on vital tasks
11 --> Learn to clearly separate work tasks and personal entertainment
12 --> If an idea doesn't have a date, write in idea book and stop thinking about it

Project updates

I'm building out 3 niche clothing affiliate websites
All aimed at summer fashion trends and English-speaking customers in 6 countries (USA, Canada, Australia, UK, Ireland, New Zealand), particuarly common vacation items (yes I know there's a global pandemic, which is why the term "staycation" is currently trending on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean)

My main Google Organic Search competitor for Site 1 gets 600,000 visits per month from Google organic search (according to Ubersuggest)
I am attempting to take between 10-20% of market share
This would be 50,000 to 100,000 visits per month from Google organic search
The average order value (AOV for newbies) is around $40-80 (so $60) and my commission 6-10% (so 8%)
Based on my 2020 campaign approx 20% of all customers click my affiliate ID product ads
25% of customers convert to sales after clicking affiliate ID ads on my sites
This means that over 5% of all my customers convert to a sale, earning me commission of $4.80 per sale - 8% (commission) of AOV $60 = $4.80

I have projected commission for Q2, Q3 and Q4 based on incremental increase in traffic, as a result of improve Google ranking as I add more content and update more frequently (bear in mind this is a forecast, so alot can and probably will go wrong), but without a clear plan I wouldn't even attempt this audacious campaign

Visitor Average Value

1 visitor
= 0.05 sales (0.005 x $4.80 = $0.24 commission)
10 visitors = 0.5 sales (0.5 x $4.80 = $2.40 commission)
100 visitors = 5 sales (5 x $4.80 = $24 commission)
1,000 visitors = 50 sales (50 x $4.80 = $240 commission)
10,000 visitors = 500 sales (500 x $4.80 = $2,400 commission)
100,000 visitors = 5,000 sales (5,000 x $4.80 = $24,000 commission)

Traffic & Commission Estimate 2021

I used Google Trends to research historical seasonal changes within my niche over the past 10 years, and save for Covid-19 variations, the trend has shown consistency of searches in that period, with an annual increase in traffic which is represented by global population growth

May --> 20,000 visitors (x $0.24) = $4,800 commission
June --> 30,000 visitors (x $0.24) = $7,200 commission (peak summer)
July --> 40,000 visitors (x $0.24) = $9,600 commission (peak summer)
August --> 50,000 visitors (x $0.24) = $12,000 commission (peak summer)
September --> 30,000 visitors (x $0.24) = $7,200 commission
October --> 30,000 visitors (x $0.24) = $7,200 commission
November --> 60,000 visitors (x $0.24) = $14,400 commission (black friday & cyber monday)
December --> 40,000 (x $0.24) = $9,600 commission (christmas)

ESTIMATED TOTAL COMMISSION --> $72,000

Estimates based on 5% customer conversion calculation --> 1 visitor = 0.05 sales (0.005 x $4.80) = $0.24 commission

From Monday ..
I'm gonna stop reading blogs, unless I'm specifically looking for info
That means I've unsubscribed to all non essential e-mail news
Most of my 100+ YT subs are updated daily or at least weekly
Videos are generally faster and almost always more entertaining than blogs
The overall standard of video news has improved considerably in recent years

take some of that google trends data and do this with it

I used a different calculator
Confidence Interval Calculator
you can trend probabilities (possibly this way)
sorry a bit off topic

You could trend your stats data also

** you need to look at a 5 year trend and reverse the adoption curve when the trend is 100>15 downward **just wanted to add that

Replying to @azgold

Ok, cards on the table
Only got $2,600 left
Anything under $6,000 makes me very nervous
Need $2,000 per month minimum, and I'm on a NET60 payment cycle
Below $2k per month gotta start cutting non-essentials
This is the 1st year in my life with no debt
So that's a positive, thanks largely everyone at Affiliate Fix

Stockpiled 3 months food and basic supplies in case
$2,600 gotta stretch May, June and July (minimum)
Doesn't figure my dental bill

Saying fashion commission is NET60
It can be anything upto NET89

May 1-31 --> August 1
June 1-30
--> September 1
July 1-31 --> October 1
August 1-31
--> November 1
September 1-30
--> December 1
October 1-30
--> January 1

Primary new affiliate site needs to start earning from May 1 (Saturday)
I have alot of work to do :eek::eek::eek:

Financial Forecast 2021
These are my commission targets for the rest of the year
Applicable to my primary affiliate fashion website
Commission forecast is based on formula -->
1 visit = $0.24 commission avg (see above for formula)
I'm sorry if this table doesn't render on smartphone
Always open to any suggestions about this

Your constructive criticism is always welcome, and appreciated :D

Schedule your plans and take action
Otherwise your ideas remain just that, ideas (also known as "dreams", "hopes", "wishes" or "desires")
Do you want to consistenly get things done?
It makes sense to plan your path to success
Use Google Calendar or your favorite digital planner
You can even write it down the old fashioned way in a paper diary
Just so long as you choose a date and take action
