Does google look at the extension of ur website (.com .co.uk .fr ...)

i'm going to make a blog in french, is it better to use a .fr extension to rank better in google or is it all the same for google?

They do and they don't to say the least. There are different types of TLD's ( Top Level domains ) to consider. gTLD's ( Generic Top Level Domains ) and cTLD's ( Country Top Level Domains ) and each play a certain role. A site utilizing a cTLD will hold slight relevance juice toward targeted search queries. Similar to how geo-targeting comes into play when a user searches for something from a certain location.

gTLD's could be .com, .net and .org
cTLD's could be .fr, .ca, .uk
