Do Affiliates Sell Subscription Services?

Not quite sure if this is the proper forum but since you folks are in the business of making money trying to sell people's products or services I thought I would present my query here. I am 72 years old and am having a social site built (writer-based) which will sell subscriptions to potential users. Since it is not a huge amount to subscribe ($3-4/month paid annually) is this a market affiliates would be interested in, or do I need to think of other avenues to promote the site? I plan on doing SEO but it seems to me directly contacting potential clients for this niche is the best way. Any suggestions or comments would be helpful. I am an old newbie and am just trying to do something to keep myself productive. It is a learning experience. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am planning to build a social website and thought this might be a good place to get ideas and input since I am so new at this.
