Can the link shorting sites be used to make money? I know the pay on them is not very good but can you get a lot of traffic driven to the site or are they a waste of time?

There are far more and better ways to earn as a Newbie or an experienced marketer.

Yes, you can get money buy using way, but not too much, and people are not encouraged to do that. There are better ways to earn money in affiliate marketing
