Beginner question about links that open the Amazon app

Hey everyone,
I’m pretty new to Amazon Associates and still learning, so I wanted to ask for some advice from people with more experience.
I’ve recently come across these “deep links” that, when someone clicks from mobile, open the Amazon app directly instead of the browser. From what I understand, the idea is that since many users are already logged in on the app, there’s less friction and potentially better conversions.
I’ve seen tools that do this (like Geniuslink, iTraky, and similar ones), but I’m a bit unsure about how safe this is in terms of Amazon’s policies.
So I have a few newbie questions:
  • Is this actually allowed by Amazon?
  • Are any of you using these kinds of links regularly?
  • Have you noticed any real improvement in conversions?
  • And the biggest concern for me: has anyone ever had warnings or bans for using them?
I don’t want to mess things up early on by trying to over-optimize
Any insights or experiences would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

deep links themselves are not against amazon’s rules, but the way you generate and cloak them can be. amazon’s main requirement is that every click must go through a valid amazon associate tracking link and that the user is clearly aware they’re being sent to amazon.

tools like geniuslink and itraky are widely used and generally safe when set up correctly, because they still route through your official affiliate link and just improve the user experience on mobile by opening the app when possible.
Have you noticed any real improvement in conversions?
conversion rate can improve on mobile because users are already logged in and checkout is faster, but it’s not magic. good traffic and good intent still matter more than the link type.
And the biggest concern for me: has anyone ever had warnings or bans for using them?
most bans and warnings come from hiding the destination, misleading users, auto-redirecting without a click, or breaking amazon’s disclosure rules. if your link is transparent, user-initiated, and properly tracked, you’re fine.
I don’t want to mess things up early on by trying to over-optimize
best advice early on is don’t over-optimize. focus on building traffic and learning what converts, then layer in tools once your foundation is solid.

I’ve used Geniuslink for mobile deep links — conversions went up a bit since people with the app tend to buy faster. Amazon doesn’t explicitly ban these links, just make sure you’re not trying to game the system. I’d recommend testing on a small audience first and checking that everything works correctly on all devices

What do you mean by manipulating the system?
