Anyone here editing PDFs directly in the browser these days?

I’m trying to avoid installing heavy software like Adobe just to fill a couple forms.

Curious what tools people actually use.

Are you still getting the PDF forms that are not editable in a browser still?

PC LINUX Open source: I convert them into a image, svg is preferred and edit them as an image, applying text in Inkscape -- sort of a pain in the ass --but all digital. Then save them as a PNG and return them e-mail or print and physically present them in person.

Universal: first print the form, physically write, then scan and copy. Print as a PDF if you want to email ... 2004 style :/

I’ve had the same problem actually.

Recently started using PDFocused for simple edits and form filling. It’s pretty straightforward if you just need basic stuff.

I usually just open it right in the browser, fill in the fields, sometimes add a signature — and that’s it. It’s enough for about 90% of tasks.
Honestly, what I like most is that it’s “no strings attached”: no need to download anything, update it, or delete it later. You just do it and move on.
But when something more complex is needed, then yeah — you can’t really do without a proper editor. Still, that’s more of an exception than the rule.

I agree that it's a great option, but malicious PDFs opened in a browser can cause severe issues, including malware installation, data theft, and system compromise. While browsers have built-in viewers that sandbox files, attackers can still use malicious scripts to exploit vulnerabilities in the reader itself or redirect you to phishing sites that steal credentials.
