I really liked the mario flower one because it fit in with both the "retro" theme and was somewhat related to garden. I highly doubt nintendo would complain, have come across many a website with that in their logo.

I use mod_rewrite to make it look like I have each article category in a seperate folder, but infact, the entire site is contained within one file :)

If you only send emails to friends or something, I would strongly suggest not placing your site in your email sig. There was a time when I did this, and my friend, wanting to be a good friend ofcourse, wanted to help out and not being very internet savvy, ended click bombing and getting my acc...
Write about interesting things. If it is not interesting and I have to write about it, I pretend to be interested for the time being and something good usually comes out :)
Well, nothing bad there. If you inflate your diggs to make your site more popular, It will just get buried when people see that it is junk. If it is actually good, then you have no need to artificially inflate your digg count, it will come by itself.

If it is coding, as I assume it is, then I would do a few tutorials to get the syntax, proper coding, etc., and then just check the coding manual for the specific function you want to use. The people in the comments section of the php.net function reference are very helpful and what I am looking...
I would recommend removing the "hit-counter" you have and replacing it with google analytics. You will get alot of information about your site and your visitors.
