Sub-domains, Sub-domains, Sub-domains

I use sub-domains for my sites if they warrant a new "space"
for a particular service I offer for those sites. For example:

Code:
http://articledirectory.accessiblewebdesign-fsn.com
Code:
http://article-resources.accessiblewebdesign-fsn.com

These are sub-domains I'm going to use to supplement that site
with relevant articles and article submissions. Currently, they
are at a default install level that contain the stock articles.
Actually, I think that one or both are broken as of now too :(
In the new year, I'll "fix" them - but to quality my question,
they will be used for "web hosting" articles and such.

So do you all create sub-domains for such a service, or simply
use a sub-folder, like:
Code:
http://www.yoursite.com/sub-folder/

I use mod_rewrite to make it look like I have each article category in a seperate folder, but infact, the entire site is contained within one file :)

Also, for my proxy network, I have around 1000 free .tk domains pointing to one domain, but it looks like it is a separate website for each one of them. Example: proxynoob.tk

PS. I register about 250 .tk's every day by crawling proxy.org for names and registering them with the .tkapi :)
