    Hello friends! Here is very useful information for newbies in the affiliate marketing. Enjoy!

    [IMG]

    Affiliate marketing and traffic monetization are quite specific niches for doing business. There is no field-specific education or acknowledged books on the topic. You gain your experience on-the-go and you have to piece together all the needed information.

    In this connection, it is rather good idea to rely on more experienced marketer to share his skills, knowledge and experience based on the realistic examples he had.

    Nevertheless, there are a lot of coaches with low competence level in the field of affiliate marketing, who sell their “tutoring” services fast, cheap and on a massive scale. You should know that they lie to beat the band. Needless to say, some of them are just greedy; they also overestimate their potential, technical capabilities, scheme effectiveness and pedagogic talent.

    Due to this fact the quality of such coach services in most cases doesn’t meet the client’s expectations. You should know how to distinguish between a True Professional and a Fake Mentor. There is simple evidence:

    a) True Professional never promise and guaranties anything to you;

    b) Fake Mentor sells his tutoring course in the manner: “You can earn up to 100k. I’ll teach you how and you’ll get that result with me”.

    An experienced coach knows that there are no guarantees when you are working with a stranger. Any guaranty concerning the exact profit and the result is a lie. That’s it.

    a) True Professional works face to face or with a small group of newbies.

    b) Fake Mentor accepts newbies the following way: “ONLY 50 PLACES LEFT. MORE THAN 50 ARE NOT ALLOWED SINCE I HAVE TO DEVOTE MY TIME TO EACH OF YOU”.

    Those who has ever been in teacher’s shoes knows exactly that tutoring activity is a back-breaking labor. If you have trained one person, it is good. If you have trained 5 people, it is a success. But if you have accepted 50 people for the workshop, it is a LIE.

    a) True Professional knows the worth of his knowledge;

    b) Fake Mentor is ready to sell his “successful scheme” at a cheap rate.

    It is obvious. If the workshop’s price is extremely low, the professional qualities of a mentor are extremely low too. Cheap price is a lure in order to attract as much clients as possible.

    a) True Professional never searches for clients;

    b) Fake Mentor sells his training course at all times and in all places.

    A true Professional never offers his services. People themselves seek and apply for his help since they are sure that a Professional knows exactly how to make money with the help of traffic and advertising. A Fake Mentor, at the same time, possesses only one effective scheme and seeks ways to sell it as much expensive as possible.

    a) True Professional does not create himself a bright pseudonym;

    b) Fake Mentor always creates a nickname easy to remember and conceals his real name.

    In order not to become a scam victim you need to be consistent in building a relationship with your probable mentor.

    What activities can protect a webmaster against Fake Mentors?

    Do your correspondence via e-mail and make screenshots of all your conversations. All these can be a real evidence of the fact of the agreements between you and your mentor in the future. You are not going to be taken seriously in every community or forum thread without proofs.

    Before paying for the deal you’d better specify in advance all the volume and list of services you buy (every meticulous detail) from the mentor in the written form. If there is a manual – specify its format, its size in pages, what information it contains. If there are workshops – specify their length, their subject matter and table of content.

    Before paying you’d better discuss and determine EXACT workshops’ period. Many Fake Mentors teach remotely, so there is a risk of unexpected mentor’s disappearance. Some of them refer to their “busy” week; others say that they have family problems.

    Discuss the procedure of dispute settlement. Before the starting date of the workshop discuss the procedure of getting your money back in case of mentor’s failure to fulfill the agreed terms. Also discuss the possibility of getting your money back, in case of your absence at the workshop or your failure to do your homework.

    Discuss the matter of disclosure of information about the deal. Come to an agreement that if one party violates its obligations, all the details related to this situation will be made public.

    Transfer your money only to mentor’s true PayPal ID.

    A great plus would be getting the warranties of a third party. Very often, mentors offer their workshops based on Ad Platform or partner network. A webmaster who made much money with the help of his useful schemes of traffic monetization and sells them to a newbies is an appreciated partner for an affiliate network. The network considers the opinion of the person who brings new and active webmasters. So in this case, an affiliate network can give at least a good feedback.

    Publicity is a key enemy to an affiliate. Every case of disgraceful behavior is made public immediately. So do not hesitate to use this level of pressure on your mentor if his service doesn’t meet the requirements.

    Every independent affiliate community would appreciate to post a scandal story. It is a good chance for them to attract new subscribers and live up the community. Feel free to share with the communities and forums your sad experience concerning your collaboration with dishonest mentors.

    Finally, the most important information: your success 100% doesn’t depend on a perfect scheme, but it depends on the sequence of effective actions of an affiliate himself. The perfect scheme can be destroyed by foolish actions; bad offer can be got off the ground thanks to well-thought actions.

    The sequence of effective actions can be elaborated by trial and error. The experience can be gained only in the field. The best mentor for you is yourself. The most valuable experience is to learn the hard way.

    So, do not give your money everyone and his dog. Try, test, and make mistakes. Every non-perfect scheme is the first step to earn you first million.

    Bye!

    Ok, now your next thread should be related to how to find a real mentor :) Beside abusing myself ( I am a self mentor with limited capabilities it seems ). Most of the professions out there, not related necessary to the online areal, have courses and classes that improve their skills through their carriers. The doctors for example take various courses through their entire career. In the affiliate niche improving your skills, beside self teaching and the obvious universities and classes not available for the majority of us, is kind of a lottery.

    Thanks for sharing the valuable piece of information with us. I know hat as a newbie, you will be struggling to know what is right and what is wrong. Amidst all these confusion, you are likely to choose someone wrong as your mentor. This speaks the message that you will not go anywhere with such like persons. We are in the world where we have very many conmen and therefore, need to be very vigilant with what we engage in. To the newbies, very valuable indeed.

    I was an adult affiliate for 15 years, and at least in adult, the affiliate programs don't invest a penny in training the affiliates that produce money. I am not talking about the new affiliates, you can't invest in somebody that might not deliver the goods, but the ones that bring you 1,2, 3,10k thousands a month. Not even once in 15 years. An affiliate program has access to a huge array of information from its affiliates, so technically you'd want to use that to improve your sales. I know the downsides, the competition can get access to those courses and trainings, etc. In the tangible economy, companies invest in training and courses. In the online world I am yet to find such a place.

    Right you are!

    This is a good thing to start growing your own affiliates from beginners. Most networks do not invest well just anything in growing our market. That will be nice to increase a general level of affiliate education in a niche. But as I have said in the article => that may be pointless as there is no obligations between a network and the affiliate.

    By the way, here in AdCombo, we hope to start our unique project of mentoring the newbies into strong affiliate partners.

    Great post! I'm not sure if you're aware of a fact, that your points describe almost all of available courses, mentorships etc.

    I'm sure most of you know the phrase: "selling shovels in a gold rush". That's what is happening in AM world right now. There are so many mentors. Every one of them is making obscene amount of money! Daily! And I'm sure that's why they sell trainings or mentoring. They have so big hearts they just need to share their knowledge for pennies. Really?

    Just a few days ago I've received a message:
    "We recently recorded a private webinar(...).
    On the webinar (...) taught the viewers how himself and his students make in excess of 1000+ profit everyday from mobile CPA marketing"

    Pure gold! Want know what I've found in this webinar? Here you go:

    Top 3 mobile CPA strategies revealed:
    1. find out what verticals perform best with what types of traffic
    2. always be split testing
    3. scale your profitable campaigns

    Yes, that all.
    WHAT!? Really? Is this some kind of a joke? Do you even know the meaning of a word "strategy"? And of course, at the end of this great webinar, where you've just learned how to make 1k/day, you will get spectacular opportunity to sign into some paid website with some unprecedented discount. WHAT?!

    In 99% of cases you will pay big dollars and get outdated scripts, old case studies, old tools, old Landing Pages and some used advices like: "Scale when you campaing is making money", "Test many angles", "Use VPS", "Always split test" etc...
    Everything you can get FOR FREE. For example here.
    There in no magical knowledge. Just hard work. Really. Unfortunately.

    There is one thing I disagree with you Anastasia "True Professional never promise and guaranties anything to you"

    If you are a true professional you can EXACTLY say what effects your mentorship/course will bring. It's just an excuse for fake mentor - "I can't promise you anything, just pay me 5k". If you know what you're doing you always can tell your students what they will gain. And if you can't promise anything you're just selling them a shovel and showing direction into desert.

    Hey! :)

    Thank you for such a wonderful review Gekko. It looks like you understand that the actual problem about FAKE mentorship is BIG! And something must be done to prevent newbies from purchasing scum.

    Well, being an Affiliate Manager for last years I've trained lots of newbies that they could make their first money. And the fact is => I had never promised that they will be successful.

    A true PROFESSIONAL never trades the promises. He provides the students with the knowledge, experience, information, hints, tips, lifehacks any kind of stuff , but not the promises of EASY AND FAST MONEY.

    I mean. You may tell what your mentoring consists of, what kind of experience will you bring. Success is 10% of the Mentor's efforts and 90% of the Student's . How can you guarantee the success? :) That is the point.

    Hey Tim!

    I think I wasn't precise enough. And what you wrote is exactly what I meant :)

    True professional won't promise you heaven on earth. But he must be able to EXACTLY define what you will get with his help. True professional will provide you suitable skillset and mindset - almost everything you need to be sucessfull.

    Don't let you fool anybody - AM is more a science then art. Of course there is a place for some "magic" - especially in copywriting and design, but still - it's a science. And nobody can teach a science if he is unable to precisely define what and how he will teach, and what effects it will bring.

    So to sum up - true professional won't promise you how much you will earn; true professional MUST promise you that you will learn how to earn. Hard knowledge, no bullshit, no voodoo, no black magic. And definitely no golden methods to make 3000$/day :) And what you will do with this knowledge is up to you :)

    Exactly. None of the world's top universities guarantee that students will be high-paying specialists in the future. Either should do the mentors and coaches.
