Yes you can build an affiliate business exclusively with online marketing...but...
No you shouldn't limit yourself to online marketing exclusively, why do that to yourself (ummm, there's offline marketing too folks)?
Yes anyone can start an affiliate business...but...
No affiliate marketing isn't for everyone (so don't think that just because you want to, that you can build an affiliate business).
Yes you can build systems (assets) within an affiliate business that generate income with very little work over time.
No I didn't say NO work, get over it...this will require work, and always will (but do you call something you enjoy doing work?).
Yes you can build a location-independent affiliate business thanks to technology and your understanding of the use of that technology.
No it won't happen overnight, and the "laptop on the beach" scenario probably won't happen at all (sorry to burst your bubble). Besides, most beaches don't have Wi-Fi or access to cell towers any how.
And a big YES...the "make money online" niche is over saturated, competitive and crowded...I wouldn't recommend anyone without substantial business assets and entrepreneurial experience start an affiliate business in that niche. Besides, it's getting easier for the feds to come knockin'...so why to that to yourself to begin with?
