AI News Where have all the people gone?

Umm. Okayyyy.

Jamie is an AI companion app for women. Women fall in love with Jamie. They know upfront that Jamie is not a real person. Kinda scratching my head.

The last half of the article/video is the absolutely tragic effect of AI companion apps, especially on young people.

As someone who is more than happy to be alone by choice (I like my own company), I guess I can still understand this but I still think this is sad.

We discussed this concept more than 10 years ago creating synth friends to play with it on the internet. Let's be polite about it.

However, there's a lot of psychodrama about becoming attached to these imaginary creations that are reactive to your human desires.
Now I do joke around with these AI tools that I work with sometimes just to see how they react, but I realize I'm talking to an it, not a he or she, I think that's the big difference.

Personification of objects is not good for you unless it's in a joking way.

It speaks to the single mindedness of anyone who buys into it. We have a segment of civilization that is so compelled to receive feedback that they no longer care if the feedback and interaction are genuine. That really makes them weak and not properly trained or experienced in the human form of interoperability.

It's one thing to have verbal communications with technology. It can be a great benefit in some areas of life. However, taking the technology into ones life as an emotional, spiritual, and/or psychological aspect of life to replace living beings is a deficit in anyone that adopts that path.

One of the ladies in the video is a retired professor. She's well aware that Jamie is not real but she says he's her husband.

I don't fault any of the women in the video, as they are of age and fully aware of what is real or not real. I guess I can kind of understand but I can't imagine doing it myself.

It's the kids discussed in the video that are no longer alive because of their AI companion that makes me mad.
