What is the best way to promote affiliate links?

Hello,

I am new to Affiliate marketing but really want to learn and earn little extra to pay off my bills. I don't have a huge network that I can target for these links. I saw a video that shows to post the links on free classified ads websites but it doesn't get me close to anything.

Please guide.

I saw a video that shows to post the links on free classified ads websites but it doesn't get me close to anything.

And it probably never will.

There are so many different ways to promote your links and many variables.

What are you promoting? A product does better done one way; CPA offers another.
Where does your target audience hang out?
Are you using paid ads or going the free route?
What kind of budget do you have to invest?
Are you collecting emails?
What (if anything) have you tried, aside from free classifieds?

Details like the above can fill in some of the missing info. It's a bit difficult to offer a suggestion without a few more details.
