Darren over at ProBlogger has another good post today. This one about what to do if the traffic to your site or blog is dropping - what can you do?

<a href="http://www.problogger.net/archives/2009/07/15/6-reasons-your-blog-traffic-might-be-declining-and-what-to-do-about-it/">6 Reasons Your Blog Traffic Might Be Declining [And What to Do About It]</a>

While we all want to see our traffic rise the reality is that every blog has days, weeks and even months where traffic levels out or even decreases. This can be quite distressing for bloggers who have big hopes and dreams for their blogs.

Today I’d like to look at some of the reasons a blog’s traffic might decrease and suggest some ways forward for each of them.

What do you think? Any other ideas???

This part caught my eye:

Worth noting is that some bloggers report that when they post LESS that they actually get more traction with readers. I know of one blogger who was posting 10-20 times a day and when he dropped things back to 2-3 posts a day he noticed not only increases in comment numbers per post but that his posts were being shared more on social media sites. At 10-20 posts a day posts were coming off the front page of his blog so much that readers hardly had a chance to read and share them.

As a blog writer, I sometimes stress because I don't have time to post enough, or not as much as I'd like to post.

As a blog consumer. there are a couple of blogs I follow that are guilty of too many posts. When I check into the RSS feeds of those blogs and don't have much time (which is most days), if I see 6-10 posts listed some days I just skip it, barring a really compelling headline, and move on to the next - who's got time to read 6-10 posts from one blog? I know it's totally subjective but it just feels kind of overwhelming at the time.

I agree David.

I can't imagine having enough to say to post 6 - 10 times a day much less 10 - 20 times a day. I have a hard enough time just doing once a day. I'm really happy if I can write 2 - 3 posts a day but more than that would be overkill for both me and my readers I think.
