Trackers for FB Ads, Worth It? Pros & Cons of going without?

Hi Everyone! I'm working on getting up and running and I was curious if anyone has advice on why you would use a tracker if the only channel you're running affiliate ads through is Facebook? Let me caveat by saying, I understand that in affiliate marketing data is key, but my hypothesis is that I can obtain data from FB + Google Analytics + Google Tag Manager, so I'm trying to understand why I would go with a tracker over the above setup?

I'm a member of several networks and I've read Charles Ngo's blog and I know he recommends using Voluum, however when I ran my first ad, FB seemed to give me just as much information for people who land on my landing page (my first ad failed so I didn't get any real merchant conversions) as Voluum.

Voluum did give me data on the people who clicked onto the merchant site, which obviously would help me in optimization, however couldn't I arguably just use Google Tag Manager to set this up for free instead of paying $100 a month to go with an affiliate tracker?

What would people say are the pros and cons of going with a tracker, vs going with Google Analytics + Google Tag Manager instead of going with a paid affiliate tracker (again this is if I'm only running ads through facebook)?
