Windows 1.0 : (November 1985)
It was a competitor with Apple's operating system, but achieved little popularity. It 1.0 is not a complete operating system; rather, it extends MS-DOS. Components included : Clock, Calculator, Calendar, Cardfile, Clipboard viewer, Control panel, Notepad, Paint, Reversi, Terminal, and Write.
Windows 2.0 : (December 1987)
It was more popular than Windows 1.0, with several feature development and sophisticated keyboard shortcuts.
Windows 3.0 (March 1, 1992)
With a new design and a protected mode, which gave the users access to several megabytes of memory without the obligation to participate in the software virtual memory scheme.

With replacing the (Program manager) with (the Start menu), and it introduced support for native 32-bits applications, plug and play hardware, preemptive multitasking, long file names of up to 255 characters, and provided increased stability over its predecessors.

It introduced the Windows Driver Model and support for USB composite devices. Also included an integration of Internet explorer and Windows Media Player
Windows Me (September 14, 2000)
The last DOS-based version of Windows. It has faster boot times than previous versions. It included new programs : Windows Movie Maker and Windows Image Acquisition.
Windows XP (October 25, 2001)
It has got better performance over its DOS-based predecessors, it included developed versions of programs and streamlined multimedia and networking features.
Windows Vista (November 30, 2006)
It included many new and developed features with a particular focus on security features.
Windows 7 (July 22, 2009)
While Windows Vista presented many new features, Windows 7 was intended to be a more focused, incremental upgrade to the Windows line, with the goal of being compatible with applications and hardware with which Windows Vista was already compatible.
