What is the criteria for Akismet classifying comments as spam? Is it just because they have a link to a website?
I don't quite understand because to leave a comment there is a field to enter a website that is optional. Does it just automatically reject because of that?
My site is only about 3 months old and I have had about 150 comments and all have been rejected by Akismet. I would like to populate with some comments.
It is obvious that a lot of it is spam but some link to websites of a similar nature to mine. Should I still not approve any of the ones that look legit? I don't want anything to effect my Google rankings because of spam.
