Spam...I Hate Spam!

I get around 80 emails daily (including lists/trade publications,
etc.) - and I've noticed recently that my 80 has gone up to 100.
That additional 20 have been spam. Very Bad Spam!

What do you all do with your spam? I like gmails spam filters that
isolate it from your inbox into a spam area. You can kill it all
there w/o having to go through every piece to select the spam from
your "good" emails.

I know that I can kill the spam on my email host (via cPanel and
"SpamAssasin") - but there are times that a good msg. will be flagged
as spam, and I'm just paranoid enough to think that if I miss that
one msg., I'll loose a prospective client :(

So I've settled to have spam flagged as such in the mail header,
and let Thunderbird "sanitize" those messages, and flagging them
to the junk folder (to be deleted).

What do you all do with your spam?

What I do?

Personally, I like to setup an email that I don't use frequently, something I call a "spam email", I use this email to submit to web directories/and further forms that I cannot trust. I know several large companies that spam your mail frequently, giving away your mail address to sponsors etc, just make a new email and only use it for your customers/company.

I have also received a thousand of email everyday, I used outlook to filter all the spam. I create a folder for spam mail and use message rules to add spammy word.

A few months ago I set up a google mail account. It was great at first as I could use it through outlook. That didn't last long. I get around 30 spam emails a day through it.

I've had to set up another hotmail account and go around changing all the email address's to the forums and websites that I visit. I haven't recieved one spam email from the new hotmail account. I'm getting used to not using outlook now and it ain't so bad really.

I dont get any spam at all - gmail has AMAZING spam filters. At most I'll get one every other day.

I still get spam on my blogs though - grr trackbacks!

I agree Gmail has very good spam filters; if you report the occasional email as spam it registers it for all the gmail users. I get maybe one spam email a week.

If you're submitting to free directories they sell yoru email, best to set up a email just for them say subs[at]email.com. And then never put your email on display on websites that may get scraped by bots, try disguising it like dave[nospam][at]gmail.com

I just submit the spammers adress to other known spammers!

Seriously though why bother, they get filtered, a few babies get thrown out with the bathwater etc, but such is life.

I've recently changed my main email address due to the masses of spam coming through.
About 90% of was VIAGRA spam hitting hard.
The way I see it, if you use a spam killer you may lose important mail as you have already stated so using a secondary trash email may be the best option.
