Should I setup a blog or affiliate site?

Hi, after some intensively studying, I think I learned the basic about the niche ideas. Then I listed down the things I love to do and gave them a lot of thought. One thing that bothers me is I couldn't find good products related to my niches.
For example, one of my niches is dog owner's rights. In real life I am a dog owner and has been treated unfairly by my condo management. So I spent a lot of time to learn my rights as a dog owner. So, I can offer a lot of insight and knowledge about this issue. But, the products related to this niche are very limited. All I can find is few books from amazon.com. Some law firms do provide some service but they don't have a affiliate program.
I gave some consideration about this situation, here is what I came up with: since I have a passion about this matter and I can offer a lot of help and knowledge, maybe it is a good idea to setup a blog instead of affiliate site because the lack of products and service.
Since I am a beginner and I am not so sure about this idea, I think it would be a good idea to post my concern there to get some advice from experienced.

Many of us here feel that a blog is typically the best way to go anyway for a variety of reasons. So I think that's fine.

As far as products go, you may want to open up your options a little. You've picked a very small and highly targeted niche which you know about and are passionate about and that's perfect!

While it's true you want to find products targeted to your niche, think about who your visitor is. Yes they are probably interested in dog owners rights and that's how you are going to attract them to your site. But they are all dog owners so they may be interested in pet meds, pet supplies or ebooks about dog training may be good too.
