As a newbie, I am always inspired to action by the success stories of others. Starting out with little/no technical skills has been tough and if not for the stories and advice from more experienced vets, I may have thrown in the towel.

When I read about the success of others, I always wonder how they started.

Were they as technically inexperienced as me?
How long did it take to begin producing a decent return on your time/money investment?

It would be great if some 'vets' could take a minute and inspire us newbies with your stories. Specific 'proprietary' information not needed - just a sketch.
