Hello All,

I am very new to this forum, (10Min). I hope i am posting this in the correct place.

I have a few thing I need some expert advice on,

I have set up an online shop as part of my website, it is an opencart shop. I have placed it in a subdomain within my main website but as i have now re branded the shop as a subsidiary of my company I wanted it to have its own direct URL.

The problem I am having is that I am unsure the best method of redirecting this new domain name to my shop. Currently using a 301 Redirect in the .htaccess file. Would I be better re pointing the domain via the dns settings or sticking to the 301 redirect. I am looking for the best method which will not harm my sites SEO. It would also be nice if the new domain name would stay in the address bar instead of reverting to the actual address of its location.

Thanks in Advance.

Ron

In terms of SEO, 301 redirect is preferred and we must do the redirection properly as it create duplicate domain or website pages issue, so we can take help of any experience professional developer who know core of SEO.
